It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Loved this show. Great acting. Please, let’s have more seasons.
This is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time! The network didn’t advertise it much to begin with, but I just binge watched it on Netflix. Love Dean Winters anyway! Wish they would bring it back for multiple seasons. This Dallas, Texas girl would mark her schedule for them.
Maybe Netflix should reboot this show. Love it! Network TV stinks. Who even knew this show was on until it hit Netflix. I love this show. I love everything about it. #NetFlixReboot
Just finished Season 1, this is such a good show why cancel?
Any show that is good seems to be canceled. Why?
Just watched this season via Netflix… I love this show… I am so disappointed that we can’t see more of them… And we don’t know if Chamberlain dies !!! Stupid Network rating politics…
Great writing. Should have given it a second season. Loved the show.
Loved the show. Agnew and Chamberlain played so well off each other. Time slot did them in.
Great series. Took 3 episodes to hit it’s stride but then solid, reliablle, entertainment. Somebody please bring it back.
Such a shame that there won’t be another season! My husband and I started watching, and it’s become our new show. We’ll just have to re-watch the one season. ..
So disappointing when they remove a great show with a cast that really works. Didn’t see it when it first aired, caught on Netflix. Couldn’t believe that one had been cancelled. Very sad!
As I watch the screen of my TV and see that there’s only been one season, and now it’s 2017, I am now sad. Someone needs to take that show up before those two actors and the rest of the actors get scooped up by a more viewer friendly network.
I extremely liked Battle Creek, why do they always ditch shows that are really good refreshing and pleasant to watch, very disappointed that series has been cancelled.
I loved Battle Creek. I was extremely upset when they cancelled it. I thought I had found my new show to replace Monk or Psych. Dean Winters was really great and the characters were getting more interesting as the series went on.
I saw it by chance when on a long haul flight. Got home and bought the whole season on iTunes. I love love the show. I think the dynamic of the two lead is great. It’s light at all the right times, and the mysteries they solve every week is really good. I am honestly gutted that we only have one season of this awesome show.
I just watched this show on Netflix and I’m so disappointed there wasn’t a follow-up season. A typical case of a show not being able to get on its feet with the network. It sure was spot-on with the acting and storylines it was wonderful! I watch mostly crime dramas from the US Britain Ireland and Australia and the relationships in this one really did capture your heart so sorry that it didn’t make it for more seasons. The two male leads had terrific chemistry and the love interest was delightful!
