It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
i wasn’t too fond of the show at first but after a few episodes it grew on me. I’m really disappointed that it’s been canceled. It definitely should be given a second chance. Bring it back please.
LOVED THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once again, CBS fails to realize something good right under its nose.
Battle Creek, Michigan was THE perfect ‘non-Hollywood, non-New York setting. Someplace EVERYONE could relate to.
Please do not cancel I love the show so much. Give it another year!
Very interesting show. Not a typical cop show, with a cast that has the talent to make it a cult classic. Most original show since another 13 episode series- Firefly. There are plenty of ordinary TV shows. The unusual ones take time to develop an audience.
Battle Creek–very entertaining and so different from anything else on network TV. Maybe the biggest cancellation mistake of the season.
Battle Creek is the most refreshing and witty show on commercial TV. I believe that it could do well on any night but Sunday, when its natural viewers are watching PBS, HBO series or specials. If there is any kind of movement to save season two, count me in.
I liked the show. The characters were getting developed as the show went on. The connection and rub between Milt and Russ was getting really good. Seems like another show that had no homosexuals on it so it got cancelled.
This was an outstanding show and Josh and Dean had exceptional chemistry and made this an enjoyable drama for the entire family. I hope it can return, CBS, please reconsider.
Renew it. Please.
Really sorry CBS – which is my favorite of the major networks – made the bad decision to cancel Battle Creek. It’s quirky humor and intriguing characters seem above most of the idiotic ones on most series with their canned laughter and stupid plots. Bring it back for those of us who will miss it sorely
Awesome show, CBS didn’t give it a proper chance! It was in a poor time slot! Bring it back!
Enjoyed the show can’t believe cbs is cabcelling.
This is a great series, maybe the best of the new season. PLEASE don’t cancel it. A show of this quality is rare, and that alone should keep it on the air. If it’s not being watched by enough viewers, just wait; it will catch on when the word gets out. This is a bad decision and bad PR for CBS. RENEW.
I’m so very disappointed that Battle Creek had been cancelled. It’s one of the best shows on TV. The actors work so well together and have great chemistry, the story lines have been great, and I have become absolutely hooked on the show. There aren’t many shows of that caliber on TV and I think it’s a huge mistake to cancel it. I sure hope someone else will pick it up and not position it against a hit show.
We absolutely enjoyed Battle Creek! I sure hope that it gets renewed. Another poor move by CBS.. Maybe another network will pick it up.
I hope so. Less and less people watching tv. This is why. No common sense or taste in tv. Great show.
