It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Battle creek is our favorite show. We hope it is given another chance
Wow I was out of country for work when the show aired. Just got back had heard about it so I did a marathon watch on streaming. Sometimes I feel like I am kiss of death for a show. I rarely ever watch network TV anymore as it is so bad. I find a smart funny well written and good show, enjoy it and poof cancelled.
One more reason to avoid network TV they haven’t a clue what real consumers want.
I think Battle Creek should get a second chance. I enjoyed all the shows and I liked the drama
and the humor in every episode. The chemistry with the actors was definitely there. I think the
network should have put it on another night. Sunday nights are not a good night for TV.
TNT – ? Someone please pick this show up. It is one of the better shows this season. Great mix of drama and comedy.
I love Battle Creek. Each week gets better & better. I can’t believe this show is already canceled. Maybe CBS should have given the show a real shot instead of putting it on Sunday nights where the shows get delayed half the time. I thought this was the best new show of the season and I’m so disappointed. Hulu, Netflix or another network should pick up this show. I can’t believe trash like Scorpion stays on the air and a great show like this is canceled without it even getting a full season or a decent time slot.
Hello, I’m not writing to you in particular but I’m writing to find out information on where we can send all these replies to save the show. I have collected them for days but cannot find a way of sending the whole lot to the programming department at CBS. Does anyone have an actual email address for them? An email address isn’t one of those annoying web form (like this one!) I remember when my favorite cop show was cancelled, “Southland”. Then it got a reprise from the ‘governor’ (a programming big wig) and was put on for another season.… Read more »
I don’t know of an e-mail address. Just the form. I did send them a link to this page, but I really doubt that people read them, sadly. I sent messages to several networks, and even found a fan mail address for Vince Gilligan.
I heard that Forever is being shopped around to other networks. I wish this would get shopped out, but I think the creators need to be behind that push.
This has a really good score on IMDB and on RottenTomatoes, and I really wish that would be taken into account 🙁
Victor, maybe this will help….Someone posted the following information and I figured I would pass it along to anyone who is interested… CBS has yet to confirm the cancellation of Battle Creek but the fans are trying to get a #SaveBattleCreek movement going by starting a petition, which can be signed here: https://t.co/yqxQyjjmZI A feedback form can be sent to CBS as well through their audience services link. Please select Battle Creek in the drop down menu under ‘choose a category’ at this link: http://audienceservices.cbs.com/feedback/feedback.htm) and let CBS know why you think the show deserves a second season. We would… Read more »
Okay, I think I may have found you that e-mail address. I went to CBS.com. Then on the full site scroll to the very bottom and select broadcast feedback. You can scroll through a menu and choose Battle Creek.
Type your concerns in the comment section and send.
Hi Dan,
Yes, I knew that already, that’s not what I wanted. Just sending one email doesn’t really have much impact. I wanted a regular email address for CBS so I could upload all our comments to them. If they saw how many people love the show, I think it would help greatly.
Thanks
What a great idea Paige. Netflix or Amazon are in ‘show biz’ now producing content for TV. Everyone here should write to both companies and appeal to them. I’m sure both would love to stick it to the man (CBS). Wow, what a great idea for a new show, “Stick It To The Man”.
Excellent show; disappointed to hear not renewed
I really liked Battle Creek. It’s so much better than all the other junk out there. Give it another chance and give it a better time slot!
It was an excellent show. I just don’t understand how shows like Battle Creek are cancelled and other shows such as Two and Half Men can go on for years! Ugh.
Battle Creek was well written, smart and funny. Bring it back!!! Try a different time slot…
The battle creek must go on, because for me its a very good show, i,m very very like it and i will really love and enjoy the second series (from indonesia)
I’m in for second season if its produced. I think sometimes it takes two seasons for a show to hit its stride. So my vote is renew. Even though its probably already said and done.
I can’t help but think “oh, no – let’s cancel a show which treats the audience as intelligent, is well written, and actually worth watching”. I doubt whatever they replace it with will be better. I’ll miss this show, as will the hubs.
BTW the way Nielsen measures is woefully outdated … perhaps we should be looking into that system. We might all get better TV shows.
Please don’t cancel this show. It is great and just needs more time and advertising!
PLEASE GIVE BATTLE CREEK ANOTHER SEASON……PLEASE.
I love Battle Creek because it is a great show that combines drama and comedy brillantly. You need to have a second season. Changing the air time will make a tremendous differemce. Please reconsider. Audiences need to see this show.
I second with Cindy said on June 1st yes leave the crap on and get rid of the good stuff
