It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Should continue with the show….It was enjoyed by a lot of my friends.
Bring back Battlecreek!!!
It should have been renewed as it was a very good show.
Loved battle creek creative idea 2 partners conflict (based on good looks-original) and then helping each other. mystery about partners history plus mystery to solve ea episode. Romance with gal on and off. Keeps the intensity. Great humor. Contrast- Sullen demeanor and the other happy good guy. Great acting. Original great series. Big mistake no season 2.
I am super bummed that they cancelled Battle Creek. NCIS, and CSI can have multiple spin off of the same BS, but we cant have have one new show with and more intersting and unique storey line? Give it back !!!!!!
My husband and I are VERY disappointed to learn that Battle Creek will not return on CBS. Bad judgment on their part. We’re hoping another network is picking it up. This was so funny, good writing, loved the characters. We’re retired and, like others, suppose we’re in wrong demographic. I checked notify, in case anyone finds it is being picked up, and they post here. I’ll definitely do that if I find out it is returning somewhere else.
This show is FANTATISC. Damn CBS for canceling this show. My friends and family so enjoyed the chemistry among all of the characters. PLEASE GIVE THIS SHOW ANOTHER CHANCE!!
I am so disappointed this was canceled. I really enjoyed this show and also find it difficult to find good TV shows anymore and as usual when you find one you like it gets canceled.
I am very sad that there is no continuation of this great show. The actors were all terrific, the mystery surrounding Josh’s character and his funny banter with Dean’s character was always entertaining. As usual the good shows get cancelled and for some reason the lame ones remain.
I’m really sad that Battle Creek got canceled. It got very good reviews and I enjoyed the show very much. It is sad to me that numbers can dictate that a very good show with potential gets shot down because of a poor slot on Sunday night. I would at the very least like to see the unaired episodes. Thanks
No sense in watching tv anymore…cheaply made reality cartoons are everywhere and anything else with true acting talent and story line, no matter how good and vast numbers watching, gets canceled. No wonder every one is turning to online. Drop the cable tv!
What a stupid idea! What now another Americas got talent or swamp idiots? Let’s cut stupid shows like “so you think you can dance” or any one of the many usless, horrible, bad acting shows like the voice. The show drags on to long .
Thanks ALOT CBS
I was really looking forward to the next season. I just now discovered it had been canceled. There are only a few shows worth watching on TV, but this was one of my all time favorites. I guess those of us that enjoyed this show were in the wrong demographics. Meanwhile all of those stupid shows with their juvenile humor or those unreal Reality shows continue. I spend more time spinning channels trying to find anything worth watching than I actually spend watching TV. I usually just end up turning it off.
Oh man!!!! I was really looking forward to watching this show again this year. Why, why, why!
What a loss. This show was one of the best new shows—-I am old and never have been polled by anyone—-this was so much better than some recently introduced and a perfect follow-up to The Good Wife that is another winner. Rethink your mistake.
