The ratings for The Blacklist TV show took another big hit last season, dropping nearly 40% in the same day demo ratings. Now that the drama series will have enough episodes for a good-sized syndication package, will this NBC series be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season? Stay tuned to find out.
The Blacklist revolves around one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader). He offers to help the authorities if rookie agent Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) is his partner. The FBI then essentially works for him as he identifies a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. The other castmembers in this drama include Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Ryan Eggold, Hisham Tawfiq, Amir Arison, and Mozhan Marno.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/19 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The third season of The Blacklist averaged a 1.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.83 million viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Blacklist TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
5/11 update: NBC has renewed The Blacklist for a fifth season. Details here.
PLEASE don’t cancel this great series. James Spader and the entire cast are masters at what they do in this series. All the parts FIT together perfectly.
Renew
Please don’t cancel. I can’t live without Red!!!
Please don’t cancel!!! Please bring us more Blacklist. It’s a different and intriguing series.
This is by far the best drama on these days. It is also the one series I’ve watched since day one. Please don’t let this go.
We love this show!! Have since the first episode. Drop in ratings could have been the 9 pm Showtime.? It definitely is a 10 pm show. We hope this is not cancelled. James Spader is brilliant, the cast is amazing. Not sure if I’ll watch Redemption. Reddington is whywe watch the show.
Don’t cancel!!
We love the show and watch it religeously. We’d really hate to see it go..
The ONLY show I watch on network TV! Please, oh please, renew it!
One of the very few shows my husband & I sit down to watch together. He was a big fan of Boston Legal & converted me. I do not watch much tv but I enjoy this show. I hope it is renewed. We are in Australia & are not able to watch season 4 yet as although the episodes are listed on our pay tv Chanel they will not play or record the upcoming episodes for some unknown reason.
Unless they are actually capturing online and binge viewing I think they are missing a large segment of viewership. The show is excellent and imaginative, I’d hate to see it end without a logical conclusion. Without that, the proposed spinoff will only last for the 8 episodes ordered.
Time to wrap it up and end it. To predictable. Yes James Spader is great. Time for him to do something new. Remember how we loved him in Boston Legal? He will come back to wow us in something else.
keep it we can’t have a life without Red!
Well for me cancelling the show means that you’re trying to kill me ,I can not survive a week without Red Reddington plus there are many ways to coplete the show also there are many unanswered questions and Red’s storey can not end …James spader is so great in that role ,it becomes him ,His eyes says alot ,so no never do that and plz do not do that to your fans ,For me the black list is more than just a show . Plus it can’t go on without Red( James spader)
For season arcing shows, I think more and more people are watching online, and binge watching. I am not sure the traditional way of capturing popularity is as valid as it used to be. Grimm is in the same boat.
I agree -they need to adjust the data being captured on viewing audiences. DVR, On Demand and other viewing options – lots of folks watching, just not under the criteria used by networks to measure… bad metrics!
I watch every Ep online, I love this show might have to watch the Finale on actual TV in support. Go Red
Totally agree. I and many of my friends record it and watch it the next day due to the time slot. I also watch it online.
