The ratings for The Blacklist TV show took another big hit last season, dropping nearly 40% in the same day demo ratings. Now that the drama series will have enough episodes for a good-sized syndication package, will this NBC series be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season? Stay tuned to find out.
The Blacklist revolves around one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader). He offers to help the authorities if rookie agent Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) is his partner. The FBI then essentially works for him as he identifies a “blacklist” of politicians, mobsters, spies and international terrorists. The other castmembers in this drama include Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Ryan Eggold, Hisham Tawfiq, Amir Arison, and Mozhan Marno.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/19 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The third season of The Blacklist averaged a 1.42 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.83 million viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Blacklist TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
5/11 update: NBC has renewed The Blacklist for a fifth season. Details here.
Love the Blacklist!! Please renew for season 5.
It is Reddington’s story. It is his blacklist. Going after the bag guys with Mr Kaplin’s and Elizabeth’s help. Get back to the criminal world and their comeuppense. We never miss it.
Please keep it! It is a very intelligent show!
Blacklist is THE best show on television. Great acting. Great writing. Unpredictable. Great story lines. This show needs to stay for a long long time.
One of the best shows I have seens in a long time. I would take it over any CSI shows. Please don’t cancel Blacklist.
This show needs to end. Megan Boone’s character got lost in the shuffle somewhere. Perhaps it was when she was with child. She never regained the spotlight in this show that was built around her character in the beginning. As I’ve said before, stay with the gal you brung to the dance! I think there were too many plot twists to sustain a loyal fan base. Finally, the Reddington character became a tug-a-war between his good side and bad side that grew tiresome. Maybe he will get his just desserts in the end. His character deserves to be hauled out… Read more »
