Though Breakthrough with Tony Robbins had some positive goals and reviews, the viewers just didn’t show up. The show’s been cancelled by NBC after just two episodes.
Self-help master Tony Robbins broke the unfortunate news to his followers yesterday. He tweeted, “Hey everyone! Despite great critical reviews of our show, it has not pulled a large enough audience for 8 pm.”
After being flooded with well-wishes, Robbins wrote, “Thanks 4 the kind comments. I’m proud of what we created & glad it touched U all ‘In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity’ Einstein”
Though NBC hasn’t announced plans to air the remaining four installments, the network has assured Robbins they will see the light of day.
He reported, “Spoke to head of NBC They say show has loyal following, 3 million ppl would be mega hit on any cable. All specials will air maybe Bravo or [MSNBC.]” (In recent interviews, Robbins has been describing the show as a series of specials.)
Robbins followed that up with “NBC said unfortunate nature of competitiveness on tues 8 pm summer no time for show to build audience…Bravo, or MSNBC may be new distribut”
What do you think? Would Breakthrough with Tony Robbins have attracted as many viewers and been a hit on cable?
My gut told me this was a fantastic inspirational concept the World could really benefit. Regrettably, it has not yet been executed in a way to attracted and appeal to a broad audience. In retrospect I believe the show needed to either be about Tony Robbins or the people seeking help. It really did not allow us into either of their lives. I watched both episodes and loved it but I had to come in from the Hot beautiful summer weather and sitting on the dock to do so. This should have been launched in the fall!
I am hugely disappointed. I do not think they advertised it enough. People probably thought it was an infomercial or something like that.
I hope to see it again I think it can provide a lot for us in these difficult time.
What a pity. NBC showed the same reality TV type programming. Nothing new there. Would have been much better to see Tony coach as he did brilliantly online.
I think this was a fabulously uplifting program that will do well wherever it is shown.
Thank you Tony Robbins!
Keep this show going!!!
So sad, I guess people would rather watch something scandalous. This country is going to the crapper!
I for one, have found nothing worthwhile on tv to watch until Breakthrough. Very disappointing for it have been pulled.
So disappointed that this has been cancelled. I hadn’t even heard about the program but stumbled acrosss it this week and watched — was looking forward to watching future programs and telling friends to watch….. I don’t have cable, so won’t be able to watch if they go to Bravo or MSNBC…..
This really surprises me. Do you think you can get in at another time slot?
so disappointed this was cancelled. obviously people are not interested in real meaningful tv… they would rather watch fluff.
garbage…
I loved the program and was looking forward to more.
Did not see the 2nd show, how could I get the content. Interested in a franchise. BK
You can watch the episodes on Hulu.
This is the first network show OTHER than cable I have watched in years. Very disappointing.
