YouTube is branching out. Variety reports the video site has ordered two new series, Broke and Squad Wars, for its subscription platform YouTube Red.
Both series are based on shorts from BuzzFeed Motion Pictures.
A scripted comedy, Broke “follows the lives of twentysomething best friends and recent grads who don’t let being cash-strapped stop them from pursuing their dreams.” The series stars creator Quinta Brunson, Maurice Williams, and Paul Dupree.
From BuzzFeed’s Try Guys (Ned Fulmer, Keith Habersberger, Zach Kornfeld and Eugene Lee Yang), Squad Wars will feature teams competing “in a series of outrageous tests for the chance to face off against the Try Guys themselves and claim the honor of ‘top squad.'”
Both Broke and Squad Wars are slated to debut in 2017.
What do you think? Do you subscribe to YouTube Red? Would you watch either series?
