Are you a fan of Brooklyn Nine-Nine? Recently, co-creator Dan Goor spoke with TVGuide about the future of the FOX TV show.
Currently in its fifth season, the cop comedy stars Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz, Chelsea Peretti, Joel McKinnon Miller, and Dirk Blocker.
In the interview, Goor discussed Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s upcoming milestone—its 99th episode, which premieres on December 5th at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT:
Ninety-nine is the celebration. One hundred is a totally mailed-in episode, you can totally skip it. No, 100 is great, we’re treating 99 tongue in cheek as our milestone episode. Actually, I think the 100th is a really excellent, interesting episode that is, in its own way, really press worthy. But it’s not the milestone episode. We just thought it was fun because of the title, 99. And we knew that Terry [Crews] was going to go, “Nine-Nine!” at the end.”
But what about a season six? Will there be more Brooklyn Nine-Nine? Goor says FOX is very supportive of the show even if it appears to earn low ratings:
Fox has been very supportive and encouraging of us and continues to be so, and their official statement to us is they don’t look at that kind of ratings data and I hope to god that is true. But also, our show does very well in the Live+7 setting, and we’re one of the most-watched live-action shows on Hulu. I think that is of interest to Fox. But the truth is, in this era of television, it’s tough, especially with our live ratings. I think there are a lot of families with kids who watch our show, and unfortunately at 9:30, that means they’re often watching it in a time-shifted way because kids aren’t staying up that late. I’m sure Fox has all that data and I’m sure we look great when you consider that.”
So far, season five of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is averaging a .66 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 1.703 million viewers, making it one of FOX’s lowest-rated series for the 2017-2018 season.
What do you think? Do you watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine? Would you watch a sixth season?
This show is the best comedy on streaming! (Netflix!) if it is dropped by fox hopefully a streaming service will pick it up for more seasons

I am With you Kathy D. I JUST LOVE this show! There is a sprinkle of a little of everything. The show is smart, funny, and so relateable, with just a touch of the feels tossed in each episode. The acting talent feels smooth and the dialog feels like an accuate reflection of what its like for each age group these days. Its just the right blend of cheesy humor, shock humor, and a dash of bedroom humor. I truly believe this show will become a cult classic of its time, much like “the office”, which didn’t get great ratings… Read more »
PLEASE PLEASE Leave my Brooklyn 99 ON!! My friends-family and I live for this show–Its clever-Its funny, sometimes even suspenseful. The cast is amazing- I really care about these people. I cannot even believe that this show is struggling-The American TV viewer has really lost their minds-It just shows in a very small way-how confused our country is right now- Seriously! Don’t let this one go–:(
Brooklyn nine-nine is the best show on TV and should have way more ratings! I hope we see a season six as this show has the best writers, actors and story that I have ever seen.
This is the best show on TV. Ever!! We need a season 6
Love this show and cannot understand why more people do not watch it. Great energy and laugh out loud moments, something lots of comedies do not have at the moment.
I agree. It’s hard to find a good comedy that isn’t predictable.
Exactly-most shows are sooo predictable! This show is different-and yes- its makes me laugh out loud and I agree-that’s not easy to come by with most ‘sitcoms’ these days-I just don’t get it
