In a somewhat surprising move, the alphabet network has cut a beloved family drama after five seasons on the air. Season six of Brothers & Sisters won’t be on ABC’s fall schedule.
Brothers & Sisters debuted in 2006 and revolves around the extended Walker family of Pasadena, California. The current season features a large ensemble cast that includes Calista Flockhart, Dave Annable, Gilles Marini, Luke Macfarlane, Matthew Rhys, Patricia Wettig, Rachel Griffiths, Ron Rifkin, and Sally Field.
The family drama was nearly cancelled last year but was ultimately renewed for an abbreviated fifth season. In light of some positive ratings, ABC ordered additional episodes, bringing the season total to 22 installments. Unfortunately, those ratings didn’t last.

The numbers slowly declined over the course of the season but really seemed to take a dip in the latter part of the season, just when execs were trying to figure out if it was worth renewing. Rumors started circulating that Brothers & Sisters would be cancelled and then there was word that ABC was considering an abbreviated sixth season to wrap things up.
In the end, network execs decided there just wasn’t enough interest in the show anymore and wanted to use the post-Desperate Housewives timeslot for a new series.
As a result, last Sunday’s season finale will end up being the series finale for Brothers & Sisters. It’s a sad and unfortunate end for a once popular series.

wow……….that stinks. I cannot believe they canceled it. I want it back…lol I recorded it weekly, right along with desperate housewifes.
OMG, Im ashamed to say that I have only just heard about Brothers & Sisters and have just downloaded series 5. I absolutely love it! Working a sea, the Walker clan have been like a family away from home and I couldn’t wait to watch the next episode when I finished work. What am I going to do now…please please reconsider…the show is great. I think it just needs more advertising…and internationally!!!

NO NO NO What has happened to the only show worth watching on tv when all of these mindless reality shows are still on air.!!! if you can call them that, personally I would rather watch paint dry… please bring Brothers and Sisters back

Brothers & Sisters is the best drama “real” no reality show on television! I’m so tired of reality shows, please don’t cancel the show! Best acting and writing ever! Please reconsider, sunday nights will never be the same.

I was flabagasted when they preview said ‘the final ever’. Does everything on television have to be reality or crime. B & S was a down to earth, happy show that was about good acting and showed good family values, without the need for the melodramatics. It was class. and such a shame its gone. Can it be bought back?

I cannot believe they have cancelled Brothers and Sisters! I loved that show and never missed it! There is so much junk on TV and I looked forward to watching it every week. Sally Field is so wonderful and I miss the show so much. Please reconsider and continue the show!

I am not sure if you even read these posts but if so PLEASE consider renewing Brothers and Sisters for another season!!!! I cannot believe that a good show with a real life connection to make can get cancelled but other shows that really hold no merit at all are left to continue on. I loved this show and loved what it stood for. SOOOOO dissapointed and losing my faith altogether in your network.
