In a somewhat surprising move, the alphabet network has cut a beloved family drama after five seasons on the air. Season six of Brothers & Sisters won’t be on ABC’s fall schedule.
Brothers & Sisters debuted in 2006 and revolves around the extended Walker family of Pasadena, California. The current season features a large ensemble cast that includes Calista Flockhart, Dave Annable, Gilles Marini, Luke Macfarlane, Matthew Rhys, Patricia Wettig, Rachel Griffiths, Ron Rifkin, and Sally Field.
The family drama was nearly cancelled last year but was ultimately renewed for an abbreviated fifth season. In light of some positive ratings, ABC ordered additional episodes, bringing the season total to 22 installments. Unfortunately, those ratings didn’t last.

The numbers slowly declined over the course of the season but really seemed to take a dip in the latter part of the season, just when execs were trying to figure out if it was worth renewing. Rumors started circulating that Brothers & Sisters would be cancelled and then there was word that ABC was considering an abbreviated sixth season to wrap things up.
In the end, network execs decided there just wasn’t enough interest in the show anymore and wanted to use the post-Desperate Housewives timeslot for a new series.
As a result, last Sunday’s season finale will end up being the series finale for Brothers & Sisters. It’s a sad and unfortunate end for a once popular series.

Brothers&Sisters was a really great show!!! Canceling it in my opinion was a very bad decision.
I do not want brothers and sisters be off ABC. I will love another season. I love that show.
I was very disappointed to find out that there would not be another season. It seems like just when you find something you like then they don’t show it anymore.
I found Brothers and Sisters in syndication. This is hands-down the most entertaining show I’ve seen in awhile. Sorry it didn’t continue. I loved most of the story lines

The show was brilliantly written. I call it organized chaos. I’m still yearning for the final season or a finale. I didn’t feel so alone when I had it playing in my house. Like I was part of a family. Where did all those actors go? PS, it wasn’t very nice of you to just cut us off like that.
So, it it just being discovered by many.. Bring it back or at least have one final finale!
I watched when it was on ABC and loved it. I loved it more this time around. They differently should have gave us 1 more season to wrap it all up! I wanted to see Kitty have a baby,and get married again.

I have now watched this series from beginning to end. 3 times. I never had brothers and sisters, always felt I missed something in my life. Watching this had me laughing and crying, Nora and her brew touched every pore of my being. I so miss shows today that are real. It was such great writing and directing. What a delight if they had a reunion. What baby did Kitty have, did she marry her young beau. Did Nora, marry again. And whatever happened to Tom’s gf, Justin did he ever settle down again….So many chapters still to relish.
