Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.
Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.
The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.
While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Camelot has been cancelled? Would you have liked to have seen a second season?

This was an incredible series. I could not stop watching it till I ran out of episodes. The acting, writing, sets and filming are top quality.
I couldn’t wait to tell other family and friends to watch. I will not do that now, after the disappointment of finding out that there is no continuation of the story. I don’t watch much t.v. When I find something I like, I usually buy the series. Thank you for the entertainment, but I’m sorry I spent money on a story without an ending.
I would have loved to see another season!!! I really was hooked to this series and binged watching it. I would hope that if this series had good reviews that Starz would reconsider.
I would have loved to have seen a 2nd season. This was a good show, with solid characters.
My dad and I loved this show. So sad it’s not coming back. Wanted to see how it all ends. This is one reason why we do not like to watch TV series. We get hooked then they discontinue and leave you hanging. Never again!
TV shows that are series (seasons) often have the potential to be a great platform for friends and family. In this case the show is for adults but its still a well written show with acceptable acting. Shows have the ability to allow it’s viewers to become seriously invested in more ways than one and then when everything is near perfect for the audience, the show gets cancelled. What once brought friends, family, and work-place chit-chat together is suddenly ripped away. I realize that many factors come into play with these types of decisions but if it is recognized that… Read more »
This series should be revived while it is still feasible.
I was really disappointed to find out there is no second season, I was really hooked on it and was hoping for more….
Please bring back the show, this was a great show and lot of potential. Everytime a good show that comes out that is not a stupid reality show or some other crap, they cancel it. I’m sick of it!!!
Why why would you cancel Camelot I love it I just got starz and I watched all day all night for two days catching up with season one you have to bring it back how come every time I love a show they cancel it geez
It was an ongoing gripping show I would continued watching. Shows like this is getting harder and harder to find. Very good cast, scripts, props, etc. It is the beginning of a great multi season show. Please reconsider!!
I was very much looking forward the next season it’s a shame y’all would cancel it
I just invested to much into this show just to find out that it’s canceled. You should have removed it from the app. I’ve been waiting for a bit like a fool not knowing that it was canceled. What a shame this show could have gone so far.
I am truly upset that there will not be another season of Camelot. If I had known that the show was going to be canceled; you would have had one less viewer. It’s very annoying for the station, people involved with the decision making to do this to loyal viewers. The show was excellent, the actors/actress were all exceptional, so I really don’t understand the issue. You all draw people in, just to spit them out and it’s right!
Sure wish that Starz would move forward and bring season two to us! You left us all hanging! What a great cast and series. It’s a shame that Stars didn’t continue the series!!!
Camelot is an awesome show. I am extremely disappointed that the series was cancelled. The actors did a superb job. It’s extraordinary that a series could grab my attention as it did. I binge watched it and didn’t want to stop till I was finished.
My family would not even begun watching the series if we would have thought for one moment we would have been let down so.I’m sure the decision was already made to cancel before the first viewing.and we pay for such crap?????
I loved Camelot . Actors n actresses were
Very good and the story excellent. The good shows they don’t renew. Could of gave us one more season for a season finale! The sister played a excellent role was so excited to see what happens with her.
