Starz has decided to cancel their Camelot TV series after one season. While the ratings weren’t bad for the Arthurian show, the numbers aren’t necessarily the whole reason why there won’t be a second season.
Camelot, as you might have guessed, is based on the legend of King Arthur. The series stars Jamie Campbell Bower as a young King Arthur, with Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as Morgan, and Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere.
The premiere attracted 1.1 million viewers with a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That marked the cable channel’s most-watched and highest-rated original series premiere to date. Unfortunately, the second installment dropped 24% in total viewership and subsequent episodes dropped even further. Still, by the end of the season, the ratings were on an upswing. The finale nearly matching the viewership of the premiere.
While Camelot may have ordinarily ended up getting a renewal from Starz, the ratings weren’t the only factor in play.
A statement from a Starz representative notes, “Due to significant production challenges, Starz has decided not to exercise the option for subsequent seasons of Camelot with our production partners GK-tv, Octagon Films and Take 5 Productions.” Deadline reports that some of those “challenges” included scheduling conflicts with some of the actors.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Camelot has been cancelled? Would you have liked to have seen a second season?

I’m very sorry the series won’t be continued. It had a few different ideas and I would have like to seen it to its fruition.
Very disappointing that there will not be a second season. I binge wasted this show and was very much looking forward to season two. Hopefully they will work around the casting issues and bring it back for us.
Yo. WTF happened really? This should have been renegotiated after the first few episodes. The cultural norms representative in the character plots and story directly reflect some of what we are currently living today.
There should be a season two. Not that it matters now! I will never get Starz. Pointless!
I loved the show and was sad when it didn’t come back. I’m watching it on demand agin now and so not happy there’s no more! Excellent production and will always be missed to know the rest of the story.
I am sick to death of Starz. Just as I find shows that I like, they cancel them. All they continue is crappy shows for kids and young adults. I have had Starz for 2 months and 3 of the 4 shows that I have been enjoying will not continue. I will let my subscription expire and won’t try again until the next Outlander season comes out.
I don’t even understand why would you even put it out there on Netflix knowing there ain’t no end to it. This show was amazing not to have a season 2.. Starz is crazy for canceling Camelot years ago they said it had good ratings so I don’t get it.. I’m very sad right now…
This was an amazing series. Incredible. Probably the best Starz production I have ever seen. There is so much more content to develop with King Arthur and all that goes with him. There would have been more viewers just because of the feedback from those that watched season 1. Starz needs to think about how this show could have gained in popularity and viewership!!
So disappointed there is only one season of Camelot. It was an outstanding view of this legendary story. I loved it! I would be great if it was brought back with season 2, even at this late date years later. The script was extraordinary!!!
Are you kidding me NO season 2 got to have a season 2 got to bring it back NOT HAPPY GOING TO DROP STARZ
So disappointed that there is not a Season 2. May drop STARZ.
Just finished season one of Camelot. I am devastated we don’t get to see what happens next!! STARZ you are idiots for canceling such a great show…you had a winner!!
Just watched Camelot on Netflix. At the end of season 1 I looked for season 2. To my extreme disappointment – no season 2!!! You had a winner, Starz! Please bring it back!!!
PLEASE bring back Camelot!!! We loved it!!
Why did you cancle the Camelot series? You just lrft it hangging. Camelot is one of the greatest stories ever told. I think it should have continued until the end.
