Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
was looking so forward to season 4
Unreal all I can say!
loved the show… why do they always cancel the good shows. Bring it back please.
I’ve been looking forward to seeing what happens on Cedar Cove and I am not happy it got cancelled. Why do the good quality shows get cancelled. There is so much nonsense shows on and this was a good one.
We are very disappointed to hear Cedar Cove has been cancelled. This was a wonderful series and we are confused why Hallmark would not continue it. As many people suggest, Hallmark could at least run a special to tie up the loose ends. Again, we are highly disappointed in Hallmark’s decision to cancel
My husband and I loved this program–so sad to see it cancelled. We are very disappointed– have been watching it loyally since it began.
Loved the show. So sad it was cancelled. Maybe a final show to tie everything up.
I cannot believe that this wholesome show has been cancelled. Very disappointed in HallmarK. You could at least end with conclusions to the various story lines instead of leaving us hanging.
I read the whole series and enjoyed all the books. Disappointed it will not be on any more. It was very good and well done.
I loved this show. I will miss it. They should at least do another season to wrap up all the characters in a finale that doesn’t leave you hanging as they did.
I can’t think of one reason to cancel Cedar Cove but many reasons to bring it back. This was a good wholesome & entertaing series. Why in the world would cancel. The network heads definitely are not thinking of the viewers. My husband & I started watching Hallmark because of this show. This is a network disaster. Bye Hallmark until you bring it back. And yes one more thing why can’t you air shows like Murder She Wrote,Columbo? You’ve been playing the same shows on weeknights for years. Very disappointed & unhappy.
very disappointed Hallmark. I loved this show! one of the main reasons I came back to Hallmark. Guess I will be rethinking that decision.
Loved Cedar Cove. One of my favorite shows. Very disappointed.
206 pages of replies,I watched on Netflix, maybe they’ll continue with the best of the year
It’s been a year and I still miss it.
Still miss the show.
Shame on you Hallmark!
Cedar Cove was a wonderful show. I loved the characters and could go on and on about enjoying the story and scenery. I’m so sorry to see that it has been cancelled.
