Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I too am very disappointed that we as the fans were left hanging. I really enjoy Hallmark movies and TV series. I really liked Cedar Cove. It became a place I wanted to go to and escape which I did every week. I am so sick of what primetime TV is putting out. I turn to Hallmark for more wholesome programs. I understand the whole “ratings” to make money but at least Hallmark could come up with a “Final Season” or something to bring closure.
Closure, yes! Maybe even just a movie to wrap up the story lines!
I am very disappointed in Hallmark for canceling the show without at LEAST a show finishing all of the season’s stories. I love the Hallmark Channel & it is a deal breaker for me as to what provider I use – as to whether they offer this channel.
I very much enjoyed each character and the beautiful setting of this show. I would ask Hallmark to bring back Season 4, or for Netflix to take over the show, like they did Longmire. Great shows like this one are rare and should not end abruptly.
Say it ain’t so!!! I’ve read the series but truly loved this show. I was just telling my daughter that I can’t wait for it to start up again. I am SO disappointed. Please bring this wonderful series back!!!!
So very disappointed that you did not have a season 4 finale.
I have been looking forward to Cedar Cove Season 4 all year, huge fan along with many others….i have been subscribing to a cable service just to watch Hallmark Channel. But after cancellation of Cedar Cove, Hallmark has proven they don’t really care about the fans. I see where you reported the viewing audience decreased a little each season. But Hallmark airs so many series, it is understandable why sometimes audiences decline in numbers. Cedar Cove was aired in the middle of summer vacation for many families. It was a good family show based on interesting characters & storylines from… Read more »
That wasn’t very nice of you to just leave your fans hanging.Television is a cruel business and I understand ratings, so smarten up or you will a big audience and than where will you be, putting on infomercials?
The show was a joy to watch but how could you leave the viewers hanging. At least you could do a season closing and not leaving us hanging
I dearly loved this series and was so looking forward to this summer’s continuation. The quality of acting was superb and the story line and setting so inviting. I really am not interested in seeing the cast in other shows but would love to see Hallmark take a step to bring this series back. I subscribe to cable just so I can see this type show… because I can’t find them on regular TV.
Hallmark Please Reconsider.
I loved Cedar Cove. I’m sick of series being canceled with no thought of the fans. And they continue to show really stupid series. Disappointed 🙁
What the heck??? Why was it cancelled. You left us hanging on every turn. We wait all winter to have a beautiful new series to look forward to in the summer. I am very disappointed in Hallmark. You should have let us know and at least given a decent reason as to why you cancelled it. You get us hooked on your stories and then just drop us. What a way to treat your fans. Thanks for nothing. To tell the truth…I am really mad at the Hallmark people right now. I just might have to stop watching your programs… Read more »
What??!!!! No season 4??!!! I loved this series !! I looked forward to following the characters each week. This, in my opinion, was the best series in a long time. Great job to you all. You will be missed
Please bring Cedar Cove season 4 back–at least to finish the story lines of each character. We are left hanging–not knowing about the lives of each character that we’ve grown to love.
Bring the show back. I am very surprised that Hallmark would just cancel the show before the characters were settled in their roles . Highly unlike this station to do this
The show should come back. It was great.
This is a great clean show. And now you cancel it. That sucks. There are so many crap shows on tv but this one was a good one. Sad that you canceled it. It should be
