Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Very disappointed Cedar Cove is not returning.
My husband had just asked me this past weekend if it was about time for our show, Cedar Cove to come back on. My reply was it is usually in July, I was trying to find out the date when I saw Hallmark has cancelled it.☹️
It would be nice to at least have an episode in which the viewers get closer to the cliff hangers that we were left with in the end of season 3. Poorly done Hallmark; if that is the way all of the shows will be handled, perhaps I should not invest anymore time watching them.
I found this show on Netflix and got through all 3 seasons in 4 days! Now im just left with the questions about what going to happen? cast, scenery and content was beautifully done and I have to wonder if there is ANY hope it can come back – even in the future of if Netflix can pick it up and at least do the 4th season to answer all the questions everyone is sitting with and end in properly.
This was an incredible series – so wonderfully made and entertaining I am extremely disappointed you decided to cancel. Please bring it back. You left us with so many unanswered questions. I want to see the rest.
MUST BRING IT BACK SUCH A GOOD SHOW WE WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!
I enjoyed watching Cedar Cove, it captured what ideals and morals should be setting an example for many other show that have little to be desired. Cedar Cove brought back those important values that are lost to TV in general. It’s a shame that you decided to cancel. I was looking forward to the next season.
This was an AWESOME series!! I have read lots of Cedar Cove by Debbie M and wondered if the books will at least complete the unanswered questions? Especially around Olivia!? We just got Netflix and I was so excited to see Cedar Cove there! We didn’t have the channel at home! Last 2 weeks I got through all of them! Now just left with the questions! The cast, scenery and content was beautifully done and I have to wonder if there is ANY hope it can come back – even in the future?
So disappointed that Hallmark cancelled this show! I am not a cable subscriber (way too expensive in Atlanta, and most content is horrible), thus I am unable to access Hallmark channel directly. Instead, I’ve been watching on Amazon (streaming) — does that not count with Hallmark? Do they even care? Cedar Cove was such an engaging show to watch, and now we’re left with so many unanswered questions about these endearing characters. So frustrating! PS: Hallmark, if you’re watching, listening, reading…have you considered going independent with your viewing experience? There are so many of us out here who choose NOT… Read more »
This show was such a refreshing and uplifting series to watch. It was unique in the fact that it was a good, clean drama. I can’t believe that it was cancelled. Hallmark Channel, that was so NOT cool to leave the fans hanging like that! I guess I will have to write my own ending…
There should be a season 4 if for no other reason to answer all the questions and close out the series
My entire family looks forward to watching this show together. We love that it is a clean show, adore the beauty of it, and are amused by its charm. I am sincerely disappointed in Hallmark for canceling this show. They should have pumped it up more with advertisements and actor interviews. Loyal fans deserve to see more and find out what happened with Olivia and Paul. I don’t care about seeing these actors in other movies. I want to see these characters again.
There should have been a season 4. My wife and I looked forward to watching this series together and to just cancel it like that was not right to us loyal fans. Need to bring it back. Very disappointed in Hallmark!
My husband just commented this morning that “Our show…” should be starting it’s new season soon. Cedar Cove was one of the few shows that my husband and I actually BOTH enjoyed watching. I looked up the new season premier date to find the show has been cancelled. Very disappointing, Hallmark.
Just found out about this to, Cindy. I am very disappointed, Hallmark!
Bring it back!!! I’m so disappointed this ‘feel good’ series is gone. It was such a beautiful escape.
