Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I hate to see Cedar Cover cancelled. Was looking forward to the next season. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Judging by all of the comments submitted here, Hallmark made a bad call cancelling this series. Cedar Cover has a lot of fans!
It’s such a shame that they didn’t at least finish the series. Leaving people get so many questions of the TV show is just unfair to the people giving all their time to watch it
Finally a wholesome feel good show only to find out it’s cancelled after finding and watching three seasons ion Netflix. We need programming like this to counter all the garbage programming that’s out there. Very disappointed…maybe another channel can pick it up.
I think it was so sad when it got cancelled. I love Cedar Cove! Still had alot of unanswered questions and also how other relationships turned out. We need it to carry on!
Very disappointed the show is over! A good show gone!
Searched to see when the new Season of Cedar Cove would begin, and was so sad to hear that it had been cancelled. I absolutely loved this show. Couldn’t wait for the next episode to air each week. My all time favorite show…gone!
SO SAD!! Good shows get cancelled and the bad shows stick around. Cedar Cove was wholesome, something I could watch and then sleep without having nightmares. HORIBLE DECISION HALLMARK CHANNEL!!!
Sa
Just finished Season 3 on Netflix. Very upset we should be left hanging. Why do these TV stations even bother to air these shows if they have no intentions of following up to ensure viewers support their station. I love Hallmark but now I am re-thinking my support for them. So……..disappointed they did not allow the series to wrap up with proper endings. I am ranting but I really cannot get over this!!!!
We enjoyed the series and it was one of the cleanest on air. Why do you cancel good programing. Bring it back!
Couldn’t wait for July to return so we could watch Cedar Cove once again…. but NOOOOOOOO, someone thought it did not deserve to be renewed…. what do you know. For once, a wholesome program appears, but is quickly discarded for lack of viewers. Why is it that trash is rampant and keeps being renewed, but wholesome shows are thrown out the window after such a short while? Hallmark, please give us at least one last season to tie up loose ends we were left with last Fall. Thank you.
So so so disappointed!! Just watched all three seasons on Netflix and became so invested in the characters and plot and now NO CLOSURE! Does Olivia care about Paul as he cares about her? WHat about Justine and Luke – do they resolve their issues? John Bowman and Grace’s daughter – does it last? etc.etc. All I have is questions after investing so much time. Very disappointing – Hallmark can’t you wrap things up for us?
Just found out Cedar Cove is cancelled while looking for when the new season starts. I’m so sad, I just found this show last year and was quickly hooked by the wonderful characters and the beautiful scenery. There are so few shows that aren’t geared to the young and are so incredibly crude. I agree with the other comments, just left too many open plot lines to cancel. Come on Hallmark you can do better than this.
I am absolutely SICK ABOUT THIS—JUST NOW FINDING OUT AFTER TRYING TO FIND OUT WHEN IT WILL BE BACK—THAT IT WON’T BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY IS EVERYTHING—EVERYTHING ABOUT THE RATINGS? WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO WATCH A SHOW AND ACTUALLY GET—-GET—SOMETHING FROM IT FAR BEYOND THE IDEA OF WHO ELSE IS WATCHING—-WHAT A TOTALLY CHEAP, HOLLYWOOD MOVE HALLMARK—-SO WHY WOULD WE FOLLOW YOU TO THE OTHER MOVIES AND SERIES YOU PUT OUT FOR US TO FOLLOW WHEN YOU CAN’T COMMIT TO KEEPING SOMETHING TO KEEP US WITH YOU AND NOW I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO WATCH YOUR NEW SERIES THAT YOU HAVE REPLACED… Read more »
It is so disappointing to get involved in a show and to be waiting for issues to be resolved that are not going to get resolved. A movie or 2-hour special to give closure to Cedar Cove fans would be appreciated. It’s no fun being left hanging…
