Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
At least do a tie up of the cliffhanger endings. I hate it when a movie or show leaves you hanging like this. Years ag Emerald Point NAS ended that way with a bloody knife holding a bridal gown to the wall and then the show was canceled before we found out what happened to the bride
At least follow-up with answers which left us hanging at the season end! Why can’t we have the wholesome series continue? Cast and stories were great – plus the beautiful scenery! My friends and co-workers say to Hallmark “see-ya, bye”
I have just found the series cedar cove on Netflix, I totally fell in love with the story. They only have season 1 & 2 available. Open completion of the final episode I am feeling so sad that I will not be enjoying this shoe anymore. I so wish it wasn’t ending.
SHAME ON YOU HALLMARK!! Don’t cancel season 4!! You should not punish the LOYAL viewers that do watch this show!! You need to rethink this and consider the script for season 4 and just make this the last season. There are still many unresolved issues that can make this last season go out with a BANG!! You are totally wrong for leaving your Loyal viewers hanging like that!
This has helped me make a decision about my service provider. Without Cedar Cove I can go with a few cheaper provider as I will no longer need Hallmark.
I would like to see a new season. The show was innocent in a good way.
I love the show – hate that the show has been cancelled.
PLEASE CONTINUE WITH 4TH SEASON OF CEDAR COVE! I LOVE THIS PROGRAM – SO MUCH BETTER THAN MOST OF THE OTHER T.V. SHOWS. CAN’T BELIEVE IT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO LESSER NUMBER OF VIEWERS THAN IN THE 1ST & OTHER SEASONS! I’M AN ADVOCATE FOR HALLMARK MOVIES AND THE CHANNEL. BUT HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS NEWS. SHAME ON YOU HALLMARK!
i loved the show. i think the problem was the night and time . Saturday evening, especially in the summer time is not big for T.V in my opinion. I really like it when it was rerun on Sunday evening. I actaully missed the very last epidsode due to being on
SO VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HALLMARK ENDING CEDAR COVE THIS WAY!!!!!!! Cedar Cove was one of my favorite series to watch. Clean, entertaining and down right exciting. SHAME ON YOU HALLMARK!!!!!!!!
I loved Cedar Cove. I would like to see it keep going as I enjoyed it very much.
I am so sad! I loved Cedar Cove! You can’t end the series with unresolved issues. Please bring it back for at least one more season, so peace can come back to Cedar Cove. I just love the atmosphere of Cedar Cove. It makes you want to live there. I love all the actors & actresses too!
Completely disappointed with the decision to cancel this show. My mom and I enjoyed watching this show every week. I didn’t have to worry about my 4 year old hearing or seeing anything she shouldn’t. The characters, stories, you could relate to it while with a pretty scenery.
Cannot believe that you cancelled this show. We enjoyed the show and acting.
I can’t believe this series was canceled. My daughter and I really enjoyed the story, characters, scenery, etc. We looked forward to watching Season 4. Cedar Cove was an escape from the junk TV shows such as the reality shows and ridiculous-no substance comedies. We are very disappointed in your decision to cancel Cedar Cove,
