Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Bring it back!
Please bring back Cedar Cove. It was a great show.
I am SO disappointed to learn this show has been cancelled!! There is such a shortage of good, wholesome tv shows that have an interesting story line sans murder, violence, bad language, and/or illicit sex. Cedar Cove was like a breath of fresh air. The very least you could have done, Hallmark, was to do a finale season to wrap up some of the loose ends and unanswered questions. Now, I will be reluctant to get involved in another Hallmark series.
Bring it back!! It was a great show. Very wholesome. Beautiful scenery. BRING IT BACK!!
Totally disappointed in Hallmark.
I was so very DISAPPOINTED that my loved Cedar Cove has been dropped……I anticipated each episode! Actually it really broke my heart that such a fabulous show would no longer be on your channel. Hallmark has the best viewing of any channels and I feel it was a huge mistake to not continue with another season. Nothing is worse than just be left hanging!
HALLMARK SHOULD CUT ALL THE OLD RUNS THEY RUN TO DEATH…CEDAR COVE IS THE BEST…AGREE 100% WITH ALL NEGATIVE COMMENTS AGAINST HALLMARK & THE CHRISTMAS SEASON SUCKED WITHOUT THE REGULAR CHRISTMAS MOVIES…..BRING BACK CEDAR COVE!!!!!!!!!!!
So, so, so disappointed – I absolutely loved this show and am so upset to hear that it has been cancelled!!! Very bad decision!
I cannot believe Cedar Cove has been cancelled. While in the hospital (season 1), I missed 2 episodes. I have purchased Seasons 1-3 on DVD so I can watch it over and over. This was one of the best shows on Hallmark. I do enjoy the movies but Cedar Cove was my favorite.
this was a good show despite what hallmark thinks. I loved watching this on saturday nites. Hallmark is making a bad decision here.
I LOVE THIS SHOW. HALLMARK HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING WITH THIS ONE. THIS WAS A GOOD SHOW, DESPITE WHAT HALLMARK THINKS AND BASES ITS DECISION ON.
I Loved Cedar Cove and I think Hallmark channel is getting away from good shows, I think you have Home and family on way to long everyday and you didn’t have the good Christmas shows on in 2015 , like Sliver bells , Fallen Angels and The Chrismas Wishe, I use to watch HallmArk all the time , but not anymore
Very disappointed to read this. I have been waiting and waiting for Season 4. I won’t get interested in another series on Hallmark since they left us hanging on this one.
I have been not-so-patiently waiting for season 4 and just found out it was cancelled!! Should have known, finally a great story with a great cast and storyline that made sense, and it ends up being pulled. I wonder if it would have been different had there been murder, mayhem and bloodshed. At least give us a decent ending
Think stinks – what a way to wake up to Valentine’s Day. Feel like the Grinch stole Christmas
