Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

TYPICAL!!! Network Producers screw over the viewers yet again! HIGHLY DISSAPOINTED!! With all the crap on TV, we had a really good, scripted series.
NOT HAPPY!!!!
Please bring back Cedar Cove!! There is no decent tv these days. This filled a huge gap for me since I am not interested in reality tv or zombie shows.
I just spent today re-watching Season 1 and 2 on Netflix. This was by far my favorite program/movie on Hallmark. Stunning settings, humor, delightful story lines make this a classic. Season 3 had too many new characters and story lines. I especially miss Andie and Terell – they are wonderful actresses. Their story lines were fascinating to watch.
I was so dissapointef when i found out “Cedar Cove” was being cancelled. I really looked forward to the upcoming season. I love where the story took place, I loved the characters, and I’m so dissapointed that I’m left hanging on what would have happened next. Please reconsider and bring it back.
Very disappointed that Cedar Cove was canceled. Had come to love watching it, It was my favorite Hallmark show.
Hallmark, how about a 2 hour movie on your network wrapping up all the cliff hangers you left us with at the end of last season?
We would very much like to see more episodes of Cedar Cove. We have come to like the characters and are very disappointed to learn that the show was cancelled. Please alert is via email if any further episodes will be airing. Thank you. P.S. We very much like the Hallmark Channel and the values that are portrayed in your programming.
I am sadden that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. This was a show that brought hope, mystery, and scenery. I was thinking to myself that Cedar Cove has not came on and I read this article. So disappointing!
I really want to know what happened with Olivia and Paul. I really hated Jack after the 2nd season and was happy when Paul joined the cast. I also hate the fact that Justine chose Luke over Seth. I want to know what happened with Gloria and the whole family situation. There’s just so many unanswered questions. Give us at least one last episode to wrap things up.
I was very disappointed to learn that Cedar Cove was not renewed for a fourth season. I was a devoted weekly watcher. The least Hallmark could do in appreciation of devoted fans would have been to have produced a two-hour movie to wrap-up the series. I was looking forward to the start Chesapeake Shores, but don’t feel like getting emotionally involved with another Hallmark series knowing that they don’t give a rat’s patootie about loyal fans. Any worthwhile producer wouldn’t leave all of its series fans hanging after three seasons. Hallmark should stick to the two-hour movies that are run… Read more »
I am shocked you would cancel this beloved series. It appears it is the decision of a few at a conference table instead of those of us that support the concept of heartfelt programming. I am Leary to get attached in the future.
A great show like Cedar Cove is cancelled and that reality crap stays on. Can’t believe it. I’ve been waiting for the next season only to finally find out it’s gone. What a shame!!!
Awesome cast, well scripted great story line, hey I am a dude and really do not watch these type shows, But you can not help liking the characters of this program and the quality is unsurpassed! I can not understand why a network would cancel such a great series
Because Andie did not want to continue; she was already shooting an ABC pilot in March which would pay a lot more $. Too bad they did not just write her and Jack out and left us with all the other great characters with so much yet to be developed. I loved Paul but no way to keep him without her unless he became the judge 🙂
I am very disappointed to hear Cedar Cove has been cancelled. Please reconsider or at least give us a special with some sort of closure on the characters. They have become like family and I know I would love to know what happens to them.
Disappointed. PBS has the only quality programming now.
