Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I loved Cedar Cove and am disappointed that it is not on. If I could not be home to watch I recorded it. I would like to see a movie to wrap up some story endings. I really enjoyed all of the characters.
I agree completely. Why even bother to film an episode if you’re not going to do a closing episode or season and leave everybody hanging. I’m not getting started with another Hallmark series again.
I agree. No need to even get started on another Hallmark series. Done.
How about one Cedar Cove movie just to tie up lose ends?
I am sooooooo disappointed to find out Cedar Cove has been canceled. There is so much trash on TV these days and it is so refreshing to look forward to this and other Hallmark series, so I’m gravely disappointed to hear it was canceled. I’m hoping you will reconsider.
I’m very upset about this cancellation. I really enjoyed this show. You give us such good shows . Thanks for keeping When calls the heart and all the other shows and movies. Please bring this show back.
Had myself a Cedar Cove Marathon on Netflix. Fell in love with the series and was waiting for season 4. Discovering the show has been cancelled saddened me. Hallmark produces refreshing and clean programs, and shows like Cedar Cove and When Calls the Heart gives us a series we can look forward to each week. I’m in agreement with other comments, bring back the series or at least give us a happy ending.
Beautifully stated! Hallmark, are you listening to us? The show was a lot more popular than the ratings reflected. Add in the new fans due to Netflix, Hallmark, the show was more of a hit than you thought.
I am very sad they cancelled Cedar Cove. It was a wonderful show and I really enjoyed watching it.
I am so disappointed! I really liked it, it’s crazy the way Hallmark leaves shows just hanging!! You could at least give them an ending. Drop Dead Diva, Cedar Cove, and what about when calls the heart??
I WAS WONDERING WHEN CEDAR COVE’S 4TH SEASON WAS GOING TO START BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE AFTER CHESAPEAKE SHORES FINISHED THE SEASON THIS WEEK. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED TO SEE IT END. I HAVE NOT READ THE BOOKS TO KNOW HOW IT READS AND MAYBE I SHOULD. BUT I AGREE WITH ANOTHER REPLY TO AT LEAST HAVE A 2-HR MOVIE TO TIE UP ALL THE LOOSE ENDS. IT MAKES ME WONDER ALSO, IF THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO OTHER SERIES LIKE “WHEN THE HEART CALLS” OR “CHESAPEAKE SHORES”, ETC.
Cedar Cove was a great show and should not have been cancelled. It should be brought back! Are you going to get us hooked on Chesapeake Shores and then do the same thing… 🙁 🙁
I just finished watching the 1st 3 seasons on netfix. I am also very disappointed to find out that there is not going to be a season 4!
I have been binge watching the Cedar Cove series for the last month. I’m so sad to learn of it’s cancellation after season 3. So many questions, so many loose ends. I’m disappointed in the way Halkmark ended the series without an actual ending. It would be nice to have a season finale to say good bye.
How about a Cedar Cove final special episode to tie up all the loose ends, a 2 hour TV movie?
Agree with all the posts I loved Cedar Cove and was so looking forward to the 4th series … Please bring it back! Sue
Love this show would really like to see more please bring back more seasons! Beautiful scenery and just so relaxing and interesting to watch please bring more back
I was looking forward to seeing the continuing story of Cedar Cove. I have not watched the Chesapeake Bay series partly because of being disappointed in not seeing Cedar Cove. I much prefer Andie MacDowell as the lead.
