Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Terribly disappointed that season 4 was canceled. This was a wonderful family show for all ages. Wish Hallmark would reconsider their decision
I just finished watching the third season of cedar cove. I was late discovering the show and absolutely loved it. I had read the first book and when I noticed the show based off the book I was captivated from the first episode to the last. I love Hallmark movies, but am deeply disappointed that they have decided to end this show. It seems to me that the poor ratings were simply because Hallmark did a poor job advertising the show. I really hope Hallmark reconsiders and continues with this great heartwarming show. During the difficult times we are facing… Read more »
I don’t like to be left hanging. It just makes me think before I watch anything on Hallmart.. Since I don’t know if you are going to cancel or not. If you were going to cancel you should have at least not ended on a cliff hanger.
Yes loved the characters the serene place it was held. I was looking forward to the new season. Very dissapointed. Maybe the actors will resume together Somewhere else.
it was a great series that I would to see finished!
Yes please bring back Cedar Cove I’m rewatching the first three seasons again on Netflix and would love for it to return
Yes please bring it back! Or at least do a couple tv movies to wrap things up!!!
At least film a one or two hour series finale so we’re not left hanging…………..
I am so sad that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. It was my Saturday night viewing. I like Chesapeake Bay, but it just doesn’t have the warmth that Cedar Cove had. Andie McDowell added so much to the show. No other show can match that. Hallmark has really disappointed me.
So disappointed that Cedar Cover has been canceled. I looked forward to watching it. Miss it now.
The books are so much better than the show ever was. I kept watching expecting it to get better. I never got to love any of the tv show characters as I did reading about them. If you liked the show, get books! All kudos go to Debbie Macomber!
Lisa, thanks for the heads up regarding the books. I will do just that. Hallmark, after all of these comments, are you going to do anything about this situation or are you just going to keep us hanging?
Tie up the loose ends with a special episode
Hallmark most certainly could have brought back this show long enough to tie up all the loose ends. So disappointed!!!!!!
I loved the show. I didn’t even know about it until the 3rd season. So sorry it’s cancelled.
This was a nice gentle family drama with stunning scenery. If the series isn’t being renewed for a fourth season, maybe a special one off episode to tie up all the loose ends would be great. It’ll be missed over on this side of the pond
