Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

This has been the best family tv show of all times. Character values, such as compassion, love, understanding, respect, family, and friendship are scarcely found not only in tv, but in society overall. Reconsider to have Season 4 and to continue offering additional tv series and shows up to the quality standard of Cedar Cove to educate people on what really matters: doing good and love one another. Ratings are not the solely factor to consider the impact value of a program or show. Regards, Lila Ruiz – Fort Worth Texas..
Bravo Lila! Well said. Hallmark, she makes a compelling argument and apparently America agrees with her judging from the thousands of comments you’ve received. Lila’s comments are from the heart. You had a hit on your hands and you let it slip away. The month, day and time were far from stellar. Lila’s comment should not be ignored.
I agree with you 100%! You couldn’t have described better my thoughts in relation to this show! I really hope they can change their mind…
I cannot believe that Cedar Cove was cancelled.
Really looked forward to watching it.We left hanging to what would of happened to each one. Love the show. Please bring it back very soon.
Very sad there will not be a Season 4 of this wonderful story. Too bad fir Hallmark viewers !
I miss sick about there not being a season 4.
If they were not planning on a 4th season, they should of had closure and a happy ending for all concerned. To leave us hanging is not right. I like this series very much, and I think a 4th season would have been perfect for a successful series..
I thought it had been a long time since the end of season three. I just decided to Google today when season 4 is coming out. Now I’m so sad.
We need closure and answers! Fans are waiting to see what happens to our beloved characters! Make a final 2hr special !!!!
Closure please! Wonderful if a movie could wrap things up.Much better than leaving the fans hanging. …and wondering if they should invest time in another series. …only to be left disappointed.
Attention Hallmark! Do you take a moment to read all the comments about cancelling Cedar Cove? I can only say what others here have said and hope you’re listening! Hallmark is a respected network! Sure the fan base wasn’t enough for you to continue… But at least have the respect for those fans to do a movie finale to wrap up the lose ends! Case in point: Downton Abbey. Everyone was so sad that it ended but they announced well in advance that there would be one more season and they wrapped all the storylines with a nice neat bow.… Read more »
Please bring back Cedar Cove…at least to give closure to the charactors…doesn’t have to be a complete season!
While I liked Cedar Cove, my complaint was that there were too many simultaneous “strings” i.e. too many subplots with too many characters. If part of the issue for Hallmark was cost I suggest eliminating two to four of the characters so we can invest ourselves in the remaining characters. Or, as many have suggested, plot a final TV movie or two in order to bring the intertwined plots and subplots to a conclusion that will reward the viewers with a good feeling. Just as many have purchased one or more seasons on DVD I would think that many might… Read more »
I loved this show. Everytime you get a good show, that doesn’t have sex and bad language and all the other garbage, it gets canceled. I like the idea of a holiday show wrapping up the story.
Couldn’t you just do a wrap up show? It could be a special holiday show. I am sorry to hear it ended.
Mary makes several important points and is spot on about the ratings. The show was a solid hit, however, the time slot was horrible, Sunday night in the middle of summer! Come on Hallmark, your marketing department and others did a poor job. You could have moved the show to another time slot and/or another day may have saved the ratings. You were short sighted and America can see that. You can fix this, do it!
I was very disappointed to learn Cedar Cove 4th season was cancelled. I hope Hallmark will reconsider and bring it back. There are too many fans out there waiting for season 4. !
