Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I loved Cedar Cove.
So disappointed not to see a season four of Cedar Grove. I enjoyed it very much and was thrilled to watch something with so little violence like so many other shows.
This is not fair…… to come so far…..and just ending it the way it did……I sure hope they reconsider ……wonderful cast and stories…..:(
I am just finishing up season 3 of Cedar Cove on Netflix right now. What a heart warming series! I feel like it wasn’t advertised enough, though. I really think cancelling this show without a finale that wraps things up, devalues it’s audience. I would love to see Netflix pick up a season 4 and give us some closure!
I love Cedar Cove. I keep hoping it will get renewed. 🙁
I just watched the Cedar Cove 3 entire seasons on Netflix and enjoyed it very much !!!! But WOW, what a disappointment at the ending !!! Come on Hallmark Channel, BRING THE SHOW BACK !!!! Maybe the ratings were falling back in 2015, but I bet it would be different now in 2018! I’m sure MANY fans would LOVE to see the show come back….
Please, reconsider…
I just binged watched Cedar Cove. I loved it and want it to continue with Season 4 and more!
I really injoyed Cedar Cove. It was family friendly and had a lot going on. If I had over a million followers, you can know that I won’t just cut it off. I would give them closer. I’m disappointed in Hallmark. I can’t always be about the ratings think of the fans first. At least once in awhile. Like now!
Thank you for your time
I wish this show would continue. I found it very entertaining.
I have so enjoyed watching Cedar Cove on Netflix, just finished the last episode and cannot believe there are not more and will be no more. So refreshing to have a series that was a good clean show. I loved it…..and am sad.
I watched it on Netflix. Can’t believe they ended it like that. I loved it. Great show. Better than When calls the heart. Better actors. Must be a money issue. No explanation given.
Listen to your watchers, and readers. Never leave Storyline unfinished. SO SAD.
Very disappointed with Hallmark. Did they even take the time to do market research? I see 329 pages of pissed off people. I will not be watching any more Hallmark shows or channels.
Was very rude of you to have the series come to an abrupt stop. You don’t care about your viewers.
I found Cedar Cove totally by accident ( flipping through Netflix) and I loved it! So disappointed the show has been canceled.
The show brought back some sorely needed wholesomeness that modern day “entertainment” lacks. I hope there will be a Season 4 if for nothing else, but to give Cedar Cove fans closure.
