Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
This is terrible, I just started watching, I love the show. I would not have started watching if I knew it was cancelled. Or if I knew there was no finale.
OMG how could it just end like that? I’ve been addicted to it for the last few weeks… loving to come home everynight, turn on netflix and watch the next episode not knowing that it would just abruptly end. How sad is that??
I cannot believe it!!!!! I absolutely love this series!!!!!! I definitely think season 4 should be released!!!! Hallmark Channel and others involved in making this decision should be ashamed!!!!!! Wonderful series…. someone definitely needs to reconsider!!!!!!
I AM SO DISAPPOINTED!!! Boo Hallmark! At least give your fans some closure! Binged watched the whole series over the last couple of weeks and it was so nice instead of all the crap that comes on other networks. Some people still enjoy watching clean TV. Had I known there was no ending, I would’ve NEVER watched. It was fun getting lost in the story…made me forget about my stress….but I’m no longer a fan of Hallmark…Debbie, please write an ending, I’d buy the book! And YES, some people still read…
Please bring it back. I love this series. Netflix should pick it up. It’s a great show and a beautiful setting.
Yes! Please bring. BAck. 4th season of cedar cove!!
You should have finished it out. As fans we would have liked a finale show. We enjoyed it so much.
No!!!! To many open ended questions. Maybe hallmark could create a movie to tie up all of the loose ends. Making movies is what they excel at.
I loved this show and couldn’t wait for season 4!!!!
So disappointed!
For several years I have wanted to see Cedar Cove, but my life was too busy for TV viewing. Finally, I sat down to enjoy the actors, acting, scenery and Debbie Macomber’s sweet story. I just finished watching Cedar Cove’s 3 seasons on Netflix. I loved it! I am a fan of Debbie Macomber’s books and really enjoyed her story come alive through the wonderful actors and the beautiful scenery. Hallmark movies have been in my life for the past 50 years. I am so happy to have 2 Hallmark CHANNELS now!!!! HOWEVER, I was totally BLOWN AWAY by the… Read more »
Here it is more than two years later and I’m recalling an episode from Cedar Cove! HallMark, why not produce a 2-part movie tying up all the loose ends? I guarantee- if you produce it, the fans will tune in!!!
I just finished watching Cedar Cove on Netflix and instantly googled to find season 4 and was so extremely disappointed to find you canceled it. What a let down in the way it was left. There should be a channel willing to take a chance on more wholesome programming regardless of the ratings not being in the 2 millions. There are some of us left that don’t enjoy “reality” TV. #upsetviewer #cedarcove
I would at least like to see a 1 or 2 hour movie letting us see how the characters end up. Don’t leave us hanging!
I’ve watched Cedar Cove on Netflix. Too bad it ended unanswered. It’s a terrific show. Simple n entertaining.
I’m a little late…
I absolutely loved Cedar Cove, it’s authentic & a great family show. I am devastated that this has been cancelled after only 3 seasons. Please bring this back. I believe the ratings fell due to it not being advertised. I’ve never heard of it, I just found it by accident & from the moment I watched it I was hooked on the program.
I saw the show on Netflix and was left hanging! Not good. Please add another season to finalize the show.
