Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
What a shame to end the series that finally had some value. It is a wholesome, beautiful story and the characters are so REAL and enjoyable. PLEASE RECONSIDER and bring it BACK!!!!!!
I just finished binge watching Cedar Cove. I was so excited about the next season. I couldn’t believe it was cancelled. Such a let down. I totally agree with the viewer who stated that it was refreshing to watch a show that didn’t have a lot violence. In this day and time it was such a relief to actually enjoy watching people live their daily lives. Without feeling the need to kill, without a lot of cursing or a lot extra drama. Nice!
I also agree. To leave fans without some kind of finale, at the very least an answer to some questions, knowing you are cancelling, is just not right. There was definitely more storyline there to cover and character scenarios still to be developed. You could have least found the funds to do that and have a short season with a finale.
Oh my I couldn’t believe cedar cove ended on such a note! I am soooo disappointed it was so well done and I live all the actors great job!!
There should be another season of cedar cove
I don’t like the show being canceled the problem with the series is it was to short should have at least 18 to 20 shows in a season it just starts and then it’s over and people forget it was on to watch next season and it needed more advertising about start up dates the trouble with TV they have the ideal that less is more and they are done before they start
I just discovered Cedar Cove on Netflix and was so disappointed that it ended without some closure! Please please please have one last Cedar Cove TV movie to let us know what happens to Olivia and Jack and Bob! Also the Saggets and Moon’s!!!
should of let people know it’s not completed I personally would have skipped it if I would of known the outcome like a movie with no ending disappointing
This was not fair!!!!! I read all of Debbie’s books and to leave me sitting here, completely dumbfounded with so many unanswered questions (for those who didnt read the story line) it so unfair…..Hallmark could have done better than this
I loved the show and wished it continued. Very upset the way it ended and it should be brought back!!
It is so disappointing that CEDAR COVE was cancel ….I really enjoy and love all the characters of that beautiful little town ……I was looking forward to every episode and couldn’t not wait to watched …..Bring it back PLEASE …..
Please, please, please! At least do a a special finale. My family fully enjoyed every episode and can hardly stand the way we were left hanging.
My husband and I have enjoyed watching the entire 3 seasons of Cedar Grove. We would love to hear of a Cedar Cove Christmas, a Cedar Cove Reunion or, especially, a Cedar Cove Season 4.How about a Cedar Cove Cruise with the cast to visit Moon’s Cafe’ and tour the beautiful town? Transform Charlotte’s gorgeous jome into a Cedar Cove B&B?
We definitely need more of Cedar Cove. Great show without sex and violence. We especially need closure with all the characters.
I was disappointed to hear that there wouldn’t be a fourth season. It is unusual for me to like a Hallmark show and even though this was pretty predictable and tame, I really got hooked on the characters. Sad to see it go.
