Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I just watched the series on Netflix and loved loved loved it!!! I am so disappointed there wasn’t another season. The show was crisp and clean and a great example of how people should treat each other with kindness and respect. It was uplifting and hopeful and funny. I so enjoyed it .so sad it was cut short.
Love the show. I need a better ending please. One more season at least.
I can’t believe the way they ended this show. After viewing all that time, we are left wit questions. This stinks. At least give us one last episode to put those questions to rest. Shame on you for doing this!!!
I would enjoy having some finale to the series. Too many unanswered questions for the love between characters. It is a shame that it has ended without ever knowing about J and O. A series about love and hope ended hopelessly.
Hello, I’m sorry that cedar cove was cancelled. I do wish however if it was going to be cancelled that they would have ended it with a season 4 and not have just left the viewers hanging not really having a closing of a reality of life. I enjoyed the show and all of the cast that played in it. each one was perfect for the part they played. I hope maybe one day you will reconsider and bring it back at least with season 4 with a better closing. Thank you for your time reading my thought on this… Read more »

I loved this show, it definitely needs a 4th season!!
Please renew the series…. It was so different from anything else. It was very relaxing and it made me actually happy when I watched it. So many unanswered questions. Please please please
I’m only in the 2nd season and I LOVE it. I’m truly disappointed nthat this show has been canceled. It was so good and refreshing to see something happy and none violent like all the other shows I’v seen. PLEASE bring it back!!
Please do one more 2 hr. Special to answer all questions.
Do you realize that you may have lost viewers because not everyone gets both your Hallmark channels in their package. That is what happened to me. I lost the one Hallmark channel that you aired the show on when my provider changed up their line up for my package. I was very disappointed that I could no longer view Cedar Cove, I enjoyed watching it very much! And just recently I found it on Netflix only to finish season 3 and I am left with a book [ so to speak], without an ending! Disappointed Again!!!!!! And I agree with… Read more »
We just discovered this series on Netflix!
I agree we all need a finale to tie up loose ends!!
Could u do a Hallmark movie with this cast, so we could have some completions & consider watching Hallmark series again!
Please consider bringing back Cedar Cove !! It seems every show I get invoked in cancels. It is an extremely good show. It isn’t fair to those of us that supported the show since it’s beginning to just leave us hanging !!
I love cedar cove they really need to come out with season 4 this is a great TV show please bring it back!!!!
I can’t believe I got hooked on a series that is no longer gonna be available to watch.. this is horrible.
This is the first Romantic series that I have ever watched. I began watching because of the Hallmark reputation. Family friendly and clean. The beginning was great, a beautiful “real life” situation that was truly believable. Yet as the series developed, it seemed that the writers were drawn to adding just a few items that muddied the water. Jack & Olivia could have made a wonderful story for several years but NOOOOO! Looks like the falling numbers would have been a clear indicator of an audiance wanting a enduring relationship that was strong enough to weather the storms. I will… Read more »
