Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Can’t Hallmark at least do a two hour movie to tie up loose ends?
If this was your plan, why did you all leave so many questions unanswered? Very disappointed with your decision!
Bring cedar cove back
Sad Cedar Cove is not coming back–wish there could at least be a final episode to wrap things up.
Loved Cedar Cove and wish it was coming back on to at least wrap up all romances. Shame you cancelled.
I loved Cedar Cove and just barely read that it as cancelled. I watched every Saturday night with my 85 year old Mother who was very sick. She passed away 3 weeks ago and I just thought, “I wish I could watch Cedar Cove with mom tonight.” Then I thought I would just watch by myself and am so very disappointed. I would at least love some closer to the story lines.
I love this series and was so looking for its return. Then see the commercial about 30 weeks of shows and Cedar Cove isn’t listed so Googled it. Very disappointed and worried about following other shows…but hoping When Calls The Heart doesn’t get canceled too. Really upset that Cedar Cove is gone!!!!!
Please bring it back. Hate to have the cliff hanger with Olivia unresolved
I personally did not like the TV show. I thought her books were much better. Show was slow and duke. However the scenery was wonderful.
Please bring back Cedar Cove! Love that show and was looking forward to another season! Gotta have at least one more season to finish off the story line.
I’ve read all the Cedar Cove books and loved the characters. I’ve watched each episode to see how all intertwined. Though some of the plots have been changed a bit, I’ve still enjoyed watching and was looking forward to the new season. Sad, why can’t they close it out in a movie, instead of leaving the viewers hanging?
Really wish Cedar Cove would stay on. Or possibly a special episode or TV movie every once in a while.
Please bring back cedar cove- very entertaining- here isn’t’ any shows similar
Season four should have happened
Please bring back Cedar Cove at least let us know what happens
