Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I just finished watching the 3 seasons and I am so disappointed that there are no more seasons. I really love the show. The setting was beautiful and I love the characters.
I believe they should have ended the storylines, perhaps a well written 2-hour movie to answer all dangling questions. I would have liked more reality. Example: I’m tired of living off my mom so I’ll find a rental and go to grad school. After those steps were taken, Justine began to look for a job. Financing decisions comes first, not last.
What a shame to cancel Cedar Cove love this series. WOULD love to see Cedar Cove continue..
Would love to read more about the lives after season 3 ended.
I loved watching cedar cove during this pandemic but I didn’t like the unsettling ending
Just got into the series and I’m addicted! I was sad to see I just viewed the final episide, I want closure!! Would love another season!! This show got me away from Real Housewives!
I just started watching Cedar Cove this summer and got addicted. I hate they didn’t finish it. I would watch it now if they bought it bk with new episodes. Any chance that would happen?

Have very much enjoyed Cedar Cove. Sorry to read it was canceled.
I watched Cedar Cove for the first time and loved it! There are not a lot of family shows on TV anymore and was grateful to find this one. So sorry there were only 3 seasons. This should have run for a lot longer time. Families are starved for this.
I loved the Cedar Cover series when it originally came out and have been waiting 5 years for more! It was a delight to watch the series again during the Pandemic for a little cheering up! It’s awful to leave all the stories hanging after we’ve become invested in the characters.
Cedar Cove was a good wholesome show. I got so involved in the characters lives. Would love to see at least a final closing to each of their realationships and lives. Missing that closure.
I have so loved watching the Cedar Cove series in 2020. It is a wholesome, lovely, heart-warming series. I am very disappointed that Hallmark cancelled the series before the whole story was told. I don’t say this much because I actually love Hallmark, but “Boo” to Hallmark for this horrible decision.
I just started watching Cedar Cove reruns It is a great show. I didn’t know that there were only three seasons. I would certainly watch a fourth season.
Please please please put closure to this story of their lives…would love to see more stories of Cedar Cove.
I miss Cedar Cove. I am a single mother with a grown son and found that I could identify with the characters. I know it’s been awhile but it sure would be nice to see a Christmas movie or just a mini series. It was a great show and I watch the reruns all the time.
Please bring it back!! It was wonderful! We need to know what happened to all the characters on the show!
