Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
If I had know Cedar Cove was being cancelled with no ending, I would have not watched it. No notice – just couldn’t find it this morning…very disappointing.
So sad and stupid that you cancelled it. Olivia needed to be with Paul.
It would have been nice if they had at least had a final episode letting followers know what happened instead of just ending it! I started watching recently On Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel because I didn’t have Hallmark channel when it originally aired. I had no idea that season 4 was canceled until it wasn’t on this morning!
I just watched the whole series again on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries and I am just as sad as I was in 2015 that it ended with so many relationships unresolved. I enjoyed the series again and found myself engrossed in each plot. Maybe a final movie would be nice!
I wish there would be a movie to finish the series or more episodes. There are so many things wrong right now, this could be something right. Thanks for bringing it back and Good Witch too….
please think about it!
Gerry
I just found this series and I am so disappointed that it ended without wrapping up so many storylines. I would love for them to do a follow up. It is not fair to the characters or viewers.
Just discovered Cedar Cove this year. I loved it and was sorry there was no season 4. If that is not possible I’m sure a movie would be welcomed that tied up all the loose ends such as was done with the British series, Downton Abbey.
I just watched the series for the first time (July/2020) and loved it. I think it is still heart warming while and would do well if it were to pick up where it left off. It hasn’t been so long ago that it could not be relevant to current times. Please consider it!!
Please bring back new episodes of Cedar Cove. This show is one of the reasons I have been such a loyal fan to Hallmark Channel. It ended without answers to so many questions. Watching the repeat episodes daily has made me miss it that much more.
I love Cedar Cove and think it should make a come back!
Now that I have watched Cedar Cove…I am craving more…please do a sequel movie to tie up loose ends
I hate you didn’t do season 4 such a great story
I throughly enjoyed watching Cedar Cove and please bring it back for Season 4 so Jack and Olivia can get married.
I enjoyed the Cedar Cove series and please bring the show back.
Just recently became aware of the series. Surprised to learn there were only 3 seasons. The cast are all extremely good, well-known actors of their craft. At least current day. The writer is also a well know and respected Hallmark contributor. I am amazed that the run was so short. Would be interesting to see how a new extension of the series would be received. Well, I thought k.
