Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I am very sad to hear that Cedar Cove was canceled. There were too many unanswered questions left open. guess we’ll all have to try and make our own endings up.
I’m glad that all the fine actors on that show will be in other Hallmark programs.
SO VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE SEASON 4 WAS CANCELLED!! IT WAS SUCH A REFRESHING FAMILY DRAMA,, AND WAS COMING TO ANOTHER POSSIBILITY WAS THE D.A. STATING HIS FEELINGS FOR OLIVIA. WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HEAR HER FEELINGS AND HOPEFULLY ENJOYING HIS ATTENTION!!
WOULD LOVE FOR SEASON 4 TO BE RECONSIDERED….PLEASE!
Extremely disappointed that you canceled Cedar Cove. It was a very good show!
Cedar cove should have an ending. This is not the hallmark that I know and love. Very disappointed. They should have made a hallmark more vie after the series cancellation, to give closure for the fans. Imagine buying a book that the author decided not to finish writing
I would love for Hallmark Cedar Cove to come back to give closure to the series. It is not fair to the loyal viewers!
Loved Cedar Cove. Was very disappointed at the ending that left everything up in the air.
Please bring back Cedar Cove! I love it! I watched all three series, this summer during pandemic. I am hooked and was disappointed to see that we would not have closure on the characters.
Even if you are canceling Cedar Cove you owe it to your viewers to make a new episode with a conclusion for the series. I myself really loved this series. It just isn’t right leaving us hanging like this. Please make a conclusion movie for this series. Thank you for listening.
Please bring it back. I just started watching. Was half way through season 3. It was a nice show, something you don’t see anymore. And, a lot better quality (actors/content) than the hallmark movies or the other HMM. Go for quality! Bring it back!!
Please, please, please, let’s have a season 4!!!
I am so disappointed that this series will not return. Please Hallmark, have a show that ties everything together. You have loyal fans and based on the comments you lost a lot of those. Didn’t realize networks would risk losing viewers in making bad decisions like this. Big mistake.
I’ve just realized that Cedar Cove ends after Season 3 with a lot of loose ends. The least Hallmark could have done sine the show was cancelled was to have done a 2 hour movie to end all questions. Shame on Hallmark!!!
I agree, Hallmark should have at least had movie to wrap up an ending to all the story lines
I can not believe that they left us hanging this is why I will not watch another series on Hallmark because they can not give us a ending over 3 seasons of watching faithfully…
I am completely in shock…. never knew about this series when it originally aired, but just recently watched the 3 seasons. I quickly went digging when I realized this morning, that the 2 consecutive reruns didn’t record. I cannot believe that was the last episode!!!!! It’s been 5 years now and nothing? There were SO MANY loose ends. How could they leave it like that? I’m really disgusted…..
I feel the same way!!! I finished watching Thursday morning- and then realized that was it – after reading these comments Hallmark knew how disgusted people were with the way they left it when they originally aired The series – and they do it again?!?
I just found cedar calls during the pandemic ..cannot believe it ended the way it did ..what a great show I wish you would think about bringing it back..I really enjoyed it ☘️
