Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I loved the first season. Then each season they kept adding more and more actors and it got harder to follow all the different story lines going on. It got to a point where I just didn’t care about the show anymore!
I absolutely LOVED this show. I am SO sad to see it go. Please do a movie or a final episode or something to let us know what happens to the characters we’ve grown to love. Or better yet, please reconsider cancelling the show and bring it back for another season. Loved this show for so many reasons, hard to see it go.
It is hard these days to find and enjoy good clean wholesome shows. That’s what Ceafar Cove was. I wish Hallmark would reconsider cancelling such a well written and produced show.
Please bring Cedar Cove back! It was an awesome show! It was a good wholesome family oriented series which was very refreshing! No profanity, which was awesome! You could really relate to the characters, their problems & their happy moments, their stories. The acting was superb! Please do not cancel this series! I agree that the time span between series might have kept people from watching. You still have a lot of faithful viewers! If you will not consider bring Cedar Cove back then at least have a 2 hr finale. So disappointed!
It’s always the high qaulity that get cancelled.
A big disappointment I think another season or at least a movie finale
Just started watching season one and we are already sad that there will be no season 4.
Hate to see this one go! It was family-oriented (probably why it was cancelled…), funny, sad, mysterious, and a little bit of everything!
The series was extremely enjoyable I looked forward to watching . I wish it wasn’t cancelled. It restores your faith that people really are good and that neighbor and friends can be your family too! The story lines were believable and well thought out! It is good wholesome family entertainment. Please bring it back. If you can’t bring it back, at least give us some closure for the characters by airing another episode to end the questions left open at the end of season 3!
So very sad to just find out this show was canceled. True, good shows are hard to find and this was one of them. Bring it back!
I am SO disappointed this show has been cancelled….I loved it and it was just such a good and family oriented show. it also left us hanging on some of the story lines as well…I am really bummed! I was wondering when it was due to come back on and only now found out it has been cancelled…
I was very sorry to hear that you cancelled Cedar Cove. It was always interesting and had many stories going on at the same time. Why do the good shows always get cancelled?
This was by far my favorite. Was looking forward to it returning
This was one of my favorite shows! I am very disappointed.
Loved the show. So many unanswered story lines. No closure !
Bring it back please !!!
I am so sad that you have cancelled Cedar Cove, I love the show and the characters. Just found out today you had cancelled. I agree with another person if you aren’t going to bring back series, have a 2 hour finale and answer some of the questions, left opened. Hallmark channel is so great and I love the other series as well. Please consider an ending
