Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I am very disappointed to hear that Season 3 will be the last Season of Cedar Cove! Please bring it back!!
I don’t believe Hallmark can do this to its faithful viewers! We have spent hours watching a series we will never know the end of it. Thanks for the let down Hallmark. Do you think I need a card to feel better, hell no I don’t! I think I will be sure my card doesn’t have Hallmark with a crown on it from now on. Don’t do anymore Series, let the pro’s handle it!
Pony up as they say! Get it right and keep it right….
Finally there is a quality series on TV that really captured my interest and then it was cancelled without bringing the current story lines to a finish….very disappointing.
So very disappointed Season 4 has been canceled. I really enjoyed this series. I had read the Cedar Cove series of books and very much enjoyed watching it on TV. I will miss not seeing what happens with all the characters.
I am so disappointed to see this show cancelled. Really should have another season to let all the viewers know what happens to everyone. You can be sure I will not watch any other series Hallmark puts on TV. I truly enjoyed this show and looked forward to seeing it each week. Real disappointment to me.
I was so looking forward to another season and just read they will not be returning. I loved the show, plot, characters, and setting of the show. It will be missed. It was a show my husband and I enjoyed watching together.
I enjoyed reading the books and was so excited when Hallmark started the series! My husband even started watching. I am so disappointed that the series has been cancelled.
I just found out that Hallmark Channel canceled Cedar Cove. I cannot believe that you would cancel such a good show. I watched every week and on I have nothing to watch on Saturday night. It was a good family show. I don’t like the new series that have replaced Cedar Cove.
I am wondering if other viewers are like me who would be fine if Grace was the revived show lead and Olivia written out as she moved to Seattle to be with Jack (although I thought her chemistry with Paul much better). There are several other interesting story lines that can survive Andie M choosing to leave the show; confirming my suspicion, as she already is filming a new ABC pilot. I have often read leads often have an option to extend and/or get a salary raise after a certain number of season… so perhaps even if she would have… Read more »
I am disappointed that Cedar Cove has been canceled. I truly loved the series and was looking forward to the new season. So many unanswered questions.
I just finished watching my copy of session 3 on DVD. It was so awesome that I quickly googled when series 4 would be available. I CAN NOT BELIEVE it is cancelled!! Please reconsider & bring it back. The people who watch & love Cedar Cove are a valuable audience!! Just because some people chose to watch something else – WE SHOULD NOT BE PUNISHED. It is a good, wholesome, interesting, fun and endearing story line. I want to see how it ends! A truer statement would be I DON’T WANT IT TO END!
I will really miss Cedar Cove. I, too, wish they would do one more season to wrap up the story lines.
Wish it had not been cancelled or at least one more season to wrap the story line up.
I enjoyed the show and kept looking to see when it was starting the next season. Disappointed that it is cancelled…this was filmed very close to home. So…who ended up with who???
We do not think Cedar Cove should be cancelled. We enjoyed watching the show. It is family orientated and we look forward to seeing season 4 to be released.
I agreed with u. I was looking forward but didnt know they cancelled . but why? Is there reason?
