Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Continue with the series and put it on Netflix.
I am disappointed with the cancellation of Cedar Cove.:( I was however tired of the millions of commercials and at times lost interest, so it left me to purchase the movies. Now since the cancellation it leaves one hanging on what was going to happen. I had to end my curiosity to find out what was going to happen, so I started purchasing the books. The books are different than the movie but I still missed watching. Bring back Cedar Cove.
I’m disappointed!
There is so much garbage on TV and Cedar Cove is a TREASURE and a pleasure to watch. Well scripted, well acted, and truly enjoyed by so many people who appreciate good programming. I can only hope this is some kind of a poor joke or the network wakes up and fires the moron or group thereof, who decided to cancel it!
i’M VERY SAD ABOUT THE TAKING OFF CEDAR COVE YOU KEEP THE SAME SHOW AND REPEAT THIS WILL CAUSE ME TO QUIT WATCHING AND BUYING HALLMARK I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER OF YOU FOR 35 YEARS THIS WAS THE BEST THE BEST SHOW AND U TOOK IT AWAY PLEASE RECONSIDER BRING IT BACK
I am VERY disappointed that this series , Cedar Cove is being cancelled. I finally got to enjoy a show that was very enjoyable with out all the violence on TV .
What a disappointment. I really looked forward to this series. The acting and writing were excellent. I feel a deep personal loss in not seeing this series continue. It’s a shame that some of the drippy movies on Hallmark with their narrow cast of the same actors repeatedly appearing in all their movies continue, while this stellar production was cancelled. I have quit watching the Hallmark movies.
Just my opinion but I think it may have lost viewers due to amount of time between seasons. Love the show. Bring it back please.
Cannot believe it won’t be back. I will truly miss this series. Wonderful scenery great cast & someone got it wrong when they cancelled it!
What a shame. Great program. Wholesome. Looked forward to it every week. Loved the characters. I relaxed while watching. It is a shame that the crap reality shows have become the norm. Cedar cove was great. Shame on hallmark channel
Yes bring back cedar cove. I really liked the show and the sagas. America needs to know what the outcomes are from season 3 cliffhangers.
So sad that Cedar Cove was cancelled. I have been watching & waiting to hear when the new season would start. Seems many of the shows I enjoy & faithfully watch are cancelled. Would have been much easier to take if their had been a final season as such & answers to all the stories going on in the Cove 🙁
I would love to see some finale if that’s possible. 1.67 million viewers seems like a lot to me. If a series isn’t possible, how about a final movie?
What? I really like the easiness and personable feel of th show. Please consider bringing it back!!!!!
So sorry to see Cedar Cove ending. Would much rather watch Cedar Cove than the constant repeats of old sit coms. It was a great show!
