Syfy has released the key art (above) for the first season of Nick Antosca and Max Landis’ Channel Zero anthology TV series, Channel Zero: Candle Cove. The first six-part installment is based on the spooky story by Kris Straub, which rose to online fame as a “creepypasta” tale (horror stories that are published to and circulate on the internet).
Starring Parks and Rec‘s Paul Schneider as Mike Painter and True Blood‘s Fiona Shaw as his mother, Marla Painter, Syfy teases Channel Zero: Candle Cove as centering on, “…one man’s obsessive recollections of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s – and his ever-growing suspicions about the role it might have played in a series of nightmarish and deadly events from his childhood.”
Here is the official Syfy description of Channel Zero: Candle Cove:
A man returns to the hometown he left as a kid when his brother was one of five children murdered in a case that was never solved. Old memories return to the surface when one mother’s child goes missing after mentioning that she had been watching CANDLE COVE, a creepy children’s puppet show he used to watch on public access in the 80’s around the time of his brother’s murder. Although others remember watching this show, they are startled by the realization that it never truly existed and they had been staring at TV static.
Fans don’t have fear the Channel Zero TV show will be cancelled anytime too soon. Syfy originally picked up the series with a two season order, in November 2015. Amy Forsyth is set to star as Margot Sleator, in the second season, Channel Zero: The No-End House — slated to premiere in 2017.
