NBC has decided to pre-empt Chase once again but this time it’s looking a lot more permanent. The network has put the TV series on hiatus and replaced it with episodes of Minute to Win It. Though the network has not officially cancelled Chase, there’s certainly no compelling reason for NBC to bring it back.
Back in September, Chase debuted to mediocre ratings and things went quickly downhill from there. On Monday nights, Chase averaged just a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a meager 5.44 million viewers. When the series moved to Wednesday nights for the new year, the ratings only got worse. It’s currently the lowest-rated scripted series on the network.
NBC pre-empted Chase this week and replaced it with a double dose of Minute to Win It. That move paid off with the game show literally doubling the demo performance of Chase’s last original episode. Not surprisingly, NBC has now bumped the remaining episodes of Chase from the schedule.
The peacock network had given the show a full season order back in October but by December had trimmed that back from 22 to 18 installments. There are currently five unaired episodes of Chase on the shelf and there’s no word from NBC on when or if they’ll ever be aired.

I really enjoyed this series and was disappointed when it was placed on hiatus. Annie Frost was interestingly flawed which made her a more appealing character. I felt that there was chemistry in the cast and I hope that NBC will either air it or sell it.
I think that it needed more public exposure and time to develop an audience.
Chase was one of the very best series on tv, and they replaced had the audacity with some CRAP like Minute to Win It?!?! Great acting, great stories, great action — put it back on air in a fair time slot or sell it to another network like TNT, AMC or USA that will run it for all it’s worth. You idiots at NBC can’t find good hit shows; then you finally get one worth watching — and you cancel it, in favor of the junk designed for brain-dead viewers — pitiful! My husband and I really like this show. We need another game show like a hole in the head.
Chase was a great show. I miss it. I feel it did not catch on because the network did not give it the publicity given to shows like Hawaii 5-0, NCIS, The Good Wife, etc. NBC needs to vamp up it’s publicity on many shows that people do not discover until the last episode and by then it is to late. This was a GREAT TV Series and I am disappointed NBC Chose to place it on hiatus. I don’t believe they gave this TV show a chance. They changed the day and time to a new slot without informing TV Viewers which was confusing and could account for why the ratings were low. Only after I “googled” about the show is when I noticed it may not come back.
I loved this show. I am sooooooooo sick of getting hooked on an NBC and then they cancel it.
My husband and I really enjoyed watching this show. We usually watch things online or on on demand to avoid commercials and because we have an early bedtime. I think they are losing a good thing
Chase is one of my favorite shows and I would seriously miss if it got canceled. I think back when it first aired there was just so many new shows just debuting and it was hard for people to get interested in it.
Please bring this show back, as we thought it was one of the best shows on tv. We really enjoy watching it and have been wondering what happened to it. Bring it back!
I loved watching Chase. I hope they can arrange to bring it back or put it on another channel like Fox or someone else. I feel that Chase has potential, they have a great cast of actors and a great story line going. Please don’t cancel Chase!!!
I am really disappointed with the fact that NBC even considered cancelling The Chase.. I really like the cast the plot and the action that each eposide provided.. Bring it back ….. and air the remainng eposides..
I watch tv on hulu or other internet sites usually the day after. I wonder how many people watch good shows like this that are never counted because of stuff like that. I wanted to see where the show was going. too bad.
I agree – I usually watch shows like this on On Demand, and I’m not sure those get incorporated into the ratings, either. Instead of using “ratings”, why can’t they come up with a better method of ranking a show’s popularity – especially in this day and age?
My kids watch this show! Lots of action and I like the All My Children Soap Star:) She is a good actress and was pleased to see her on PrimeTime!
