The network giveth and the network taketh away.
Even though the Chase series performed poorly right from the start, NBC gave the TV show a full season order of 22 episodes. Now, the peacock network has trimmed back that order to just 18 installments.
On the positive side, NBC is moving Chase out of the Mondays at 10pm timeslot. It’ll no longer have to battle against Castle and the new Hawaii Five-0. Unfortunately, beginning January 12th, it’ll be airing in a far more competitive timeslot. Chase is moving to Wednesdays at 9pm where it’ll do battle with American Idol.
The most recent episode of Chase garnered a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.03 million total viewers. That’s the second significant increase in two weeks but the series is still doing terribly and is consistently in a distant third place for the timeslot.
Chase has averaged a 1.6 rating for the season, just slightly better than now-cancelled Undercovers. Unless there’s a significant turnaround, it’s pretty clear that Chase will be cancelled at the end of the season.
What do you think? Does Chase still have a chance to be renewed for season two or is it already doomed to be cancelled?

I have to tell you, I love this show. It’s full of action & eventful drama while being so rooted in reality- unlike a certain hour long new to tv show this fall (The Event- which I tevo in spite of it’s reaching). Annie Frost rocks & so does her team. I am sure, if anyone sat through a whole episode of this show, they would need to see another- and another! Yay for Chase! Yay for bad*ss women (including the show creator Jennifer Johnson)! Yay for NBC! If they keep it on the air. I’m always in support of… Read more »
Love Chase and its tough lead actress, Annie (Kelli Giddish)… My mother and I would hate to see it cancelled…we record and watch it religiously!
good show keep it it is getting better just take it from Hawaii 5 0 time slot…American Idol is a death nail for any show so if it moves here it is a sure thing to get cancelled.
Chase is great!! This show needs to stay on the air. The most recent episode was awesome. Please keep Chase!!
This is a refreshing new series that depicts realism much better than the usual cop shows. Houston is a vibrant, multi-cultural and complex city and Chase presents it as it is. Tell you what, you cancel Chase and I promise I will block NBC channel on my TV!!! Annie rocks and is one tough, good-looking, no-fooling around chic!!
Well good gracious. After the move I won’t be able to watch it anymore since that time slot is already filled with Criminal Minds, Modern Family and Cougartown. This saddens me as I really liked the show.
Moving all shows around again to introduce another…then this…typical NBC shenanigans, no matter who’s in charge. Such a good, tight show. I hope it won’t get cancelled.
I like Chase, so of COURSE they’re thinking about cancelling it. This is the real reason-scripted shows are EXPENSIVE. Reality crap is CHEAP. That’s the bottom line. Why pay all that money for production costs and actors salaries, when you can churn out garbage like “minute to win it.”? There’s your answer folks.
We, Roger & Janet Hinton really like CHASE. PLEASE DON’T TAKE IT OFF THE AIR. all the realty shows stay on instead of good Shows like Chase!
I love Chase and moving it to Wednesday @9:00 is perfect. I hate American Idol and now there will be something on Wednesday for me to watch.
Please keep Chase!!!! Networks are too hasty to cancel great shows! I love this show and I want to know more of Annie’s backstory!
The network execs at NBC are doing what they can to keep this fine show from being canceled. Otherwise, they would have to answer to your truly. And as for going up against American Idol, the main problem for Chase is that there are lots of morons who waste their time watching it and other reality garbage.
You’re so right. Not enough morons are watching Chase.
I only watched a few episodes early on, but there seems to be little special about this show, unlike “In Plain Sight” or “Justified.” Just another cop drama with a “meh’ cast. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it canceled.
Um yeah, what else could NBC throw under the Idol and Modern Family buses? Barring a ratings miracle, it’s a goner. There’s bigger shows like (like SVU & Parenthood) they need to save instead of propping up Chase. Too bad.
It’s doomed. I know it, you know and the rest of the planet knows it. I not only predicted it, but I said it was very likely when we heard Dark blue was history. Jerry is cursed now. It’s like he sold his soul to the devil for the CSI franchise and all his other shows are automatically doomed. The forgotten, Maimi Medical, Killer instinct, Dark Blue, more I could mention, but you get the point. That’s life for you.
