Chicago Fire, FBI, and Law & Order: SVU are just some of the series under the Dick Wolf label that have put a halt to their production due to concerns over the coronavirus. The shows were nearing wrap dates for their current seasons, but it looks like they will not start production again til next fall, per a Deadline report.
Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD all film in Chicago, and that city did have the first case of a TV staffer contracting the illness.
NBC said the following about the decision to shut down production on their programming in a statement:
“The safety and health of our cast, crew and employees is our top priority. Where possible, we are pausing production for two weeks as a precautionary measure, following which we will reassess and determine an appropriate start date. In some cases, we are accelerating plans to wrap up physical production.”
All three Chicago shows and Law & Order: SVU were all recently renewed for three more seasons. New Amsterdam, another series impacted by the production shut down, was also renewed for three seasons earlier this year.
What do you think? Are you surprised that the Dick Wolf family of shows have stopped production for the season? Is it a smart move by NBC Universal?
Absolutely wise decision
Doesn’t matter he keeps the series blocked from people who don’t get certain internet providers. My shows are stopped at end of the 4 the series. Would love to connect to it but you don’t allow it. So sad only some people can watch AND others can’t. Really disappointing. I am not the only one
I love the three Chicago series and I love svu , my favorite character is Marisa hargitay , I would love to meet her and the cast , sorry that you had to halt production , but I hope everyone stays safe , looking forward for it to come back on .
We all need to promote the safest work atmospheres for all.I congratulate their decision.
The most important thing IS the safety of the cast and crew so yes, it’s a good idea. Besides real Wolf fans aren’t going anywhere. We can always watch the awesome reruns. I’m a die hard fan and I’m not going anywhere!!!! COPY THAT!!!✔
Mr. Wolf, may very well be the best producer ever. All his shows are great! I grew up in 70’s. Quinn Martin was very good, PI shows, Frank Cannon and his silver Mark IV.
Yes, better to be safe, just as the rest of society is doing. No one’s health should be put in jeopardy if it can be helped. Besides, we need our fav actors/actresses to stay healthy so we can enjoy them again in the future.

I’m not surprised. Delaying filming is the right thing to do. However, ask my friend about cancelling ALL sports. It’s his first Saturday without baseball and golf. Not cute.
I knew this was coming, and i bet more for every network will happen before it all gets better..but it has to be done..so start ordering DVD’s from Amazon!
Great idea, we all have to be safe and be careful during this crucial time
I’m very happy that all of my Dick Wolf show’s have been renewed. They are the best shows on tv. It’s great planning to have the show’s put on hi hanst it’s good that Chicago and NBC are thinking of their. Staff.
Do Not Like The Idea. Shows have already been interupted too much After scare is over would like to see season finished
They are not just characters they are humans like you. It’s good they are being taken care of.
I agree with Mr Wolf. The safety of the cast and crew is top priority. They are the show and need to feel safe going to work every day. Thank you for all your hard work.
Kudos! I wouldn’t expect anything less from the Mr.Wolf! There’s plenty to binge watch on demand! Xoxo Be safe!
I’m so glad these TV shows, which I love, are putting their people and families first. It definitely is not worth taking a risk. We look forward toward to when this virus is under control . Rest up and keep your families safe. See you when you are back.
Ok I am aware of this Coronavirus and I understand the health of others but come on dont cancel or shows because of it. Geez sorry rant over
