Last month, CBS execs ordered six additional scripts for new medical drama Code Black. They apparently won’t be needing one of them. The network has now decided to produce five more episodes, bringing the first season tally to 18 installments.
Code Black takes place in an Emergency Room in Los Angeles where underfunding and understaffing pile huge pressure on its staff. The cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Raza Jaffrey, Bonnie Somerville, Melanie Chandra, William Allen Young, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, and Luis Guzman.
Per the live + same day ratings, Code Black has been averaging a 1.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.92 million viewers. The Wednesday night drama is the network’s 13th highest rated scripted series (out of 18) in the key demo.

CBS ORDERS FIVE MORE EPISODES OF THE NEW MEDICAL DRAMA “CODE BLACK”
CBS has ordered five more episodes of the new medical drama CODE BLACK, bringing the total number of episodes to 18.
CODE BLACK wins its Wednesday (10:00-11:00PM) time period with 9.14 million viewers. The freshman drama also sees significant live + 7-day playback, adding 3 million viewers and increasing +67% in adults 18-49 and +56% in adults 25-54.

I love Code Blacl, please rene it. If it has problems getting viewers it’s because it may need moved because it’s opposite Chocago PD and somewhat like Night Tracks which I love too. The characters are so differant and have such interesting back stories. Please reconciser cancelling it. The minute my friend told the possibility of cancellation I serched and am commenting.
Love Code Black. It has quickly become one of my favorite shows – my husband’s as well. We especially enjoy the relationship between Marcia Gay Hardin and Luis Guzman.
Please, please, PLEASE don’t cancel Code Black. This is the best medical drama I’ve seen in years. I love that it’s about the patients and their stories as opposed to doctors and staff sleeping with different doctors and staff each week. I haven’t had a reason to watch CBS in a long time. This gives me a reason.

I like this medical drama a lot. In my opinion it’s far better than ER ever was. It’s grittier and far more realistic…I can say that since I’m in the medical profession. It gets your heart racing, especially when the attendings put the residents on the spot during a critical moment, which shows just how fast ER personnel have to think in order to save lives. CBS, I’d like to see more of Code Black.

I absolutely ~LOVE~ this new medical drama ! It would be unforgivable if this show were not given time to develop further ! Marsha Gay Harden and Luis Guzman…. who’d have ever put them together in the same show….but they really compliment each other here ! All the characters do ! I give this high fives all the way around !
I’m so happy that CBS extended the series for code black this season and this season and they better renewal for another season because it’s an excellent medical drama in this is an excellent show everybody that I know loves watching it so just renew it now for another season and a full season at that.

This show is definitely a keeper…Marcia Gay Harden is perfect and the entire cast makes it a show that I would never miss…It moves so quickly…Please do not cancel this show!
