Last month, CBS execs ordered six additional scripts for new medical drama Code Black. They apparently won’t be needing one of them. The network has now decided to produce five more episodes, bringing the first season tally to 18 installments.
Code Black takes place in an Emergency Room in Los Angeles where underfunding and understaffing pile huge pressure on its staff. The cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Raza Jaffrey, Bonnie Somerville, Melanie Chandra, William Allen Young, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, and Luis Guzman.
Per the live + same day ratings, Code Black has been averaging a 1.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.92 million viewers. The Wednesday night drama is the network’s 13th highest rated scripted series (out of 18) in the key demo.

CBS ORDERS FIVE MORE EPISODES OF THE NEW MEDICAL DRAMA “CODE BLACK”
CBS has ordered five more episodes of the new medical drama CODE BLACK, bringing the total number of episodes to 18.
CODE BLACK wins its Wednesday (10:00-11:00PM) time period with 9.14 million viewers. The freshman drama also sees significant live + 7-day playback, adding 3 million viewers and increasing +67% in adults 18-49 and +56% in adults 25-54.

I love Code Black , what makes me mad is since the show started last fall there has been SEVEN WEEKS with some other junk . I HATE IT . I watch seven shows and just by chance six of them haven’t been on either. It’s winter, I’m disabled and I use to look forward to seeing my shows every week , not anymore , it’s a guessing game now . I love Code Black cast great show more action of the ER less of the love drama between doctors and nurses
Code Black is one of the finest shows on TV. We would love to see this show extended permanently. There are so many foolish, boring shows on TV that I’ve thought seriously of just using Netflix. Reality shows are awful! Many dramas have very weak scripts… same old, same old. Viewers want unique, appealing, interesting shows like Code Black, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago PD. These are fresh & very addicting. I can’t wait to see each episode!
I love this show. I don’t watch a lot of TV anymore. I hate reality TV, and there are a lot of crap shows that go on way too long. This show grabs you, I can’t wait to watch it every week. I think they should give the show 1 more year for viewers to discover how great it really is!
Please extend Code black with a second season and beyond. Every week I cant wait for the new episode. Just LOVE it!!!
code black is one of the more excellent shows on TV. the acting is tremendous and the situations are realistic. it would behoove the network to renew this TV series for another season

We love code black! Sometimes, for us, the time slot is inconvenient. Love the action and the acting! The same with blue bloods! So please keep these shows on!
