Last month, CBS execs ordered six additional scripts for new medical drama Code Black. They apparently won’t be needing one of them. The network has now decided to produce five more episodes, bringing the first season tally to 18 installments.
Code Black takes place in an Emergency Room in Los Angeles where underfunding and understaffing pile huge pressure on its staff. The cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Raza Jaffrey, Bonnie Somerville, Melanie Chandra, William Allen Young, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, and Luis Guzman.
Per the live + same day ratings, Code Black has been averaging a 1.23 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.92 million viewers. The Wednesday night drama is the network’s 13th highest rated scripted series (out of 18) in the key demo.

CBS ORDERS FIVE MORE EPISODES OF THE NEW MEDICAL DRAMA “CODE BLACK”
CBS has ordered five more episodes of the new medical drama CODE BLACK, bringing the total number of episodes to 18.
CODE BLACK wins its Wednesday (10:00-11:00PM) time period with 9.14 million viewers. The freshman drama also sees significant live + 7-day playback, adding 3 million viewers and increasing +67% in adults 18-49 and +56% in adults 25-54.

I am a retired RN and wasn’t sure I would like Code Black. But yes I really do. The character development as well as the realistic ER are the makings of a great show.

Please don’t cancel this show. This is one of the best shows that I have seen in a long time. It is real life in the ER and in hospitals.I have been watching this show since it started and look forward to it every week. Episode 9 was EPIC!
This show should definitely be renewed. Code Black is the best medical drama since ER…maybe even better. The characters and content are hard hitting on your emotions. An amazing show!
I love Code Blacl, please rene it. If it has problems getting viewers it’s because it may need moved because it’s opposite Chocago PD The characters are so differant and have such interesting back stories. Please reconciser cancelling it. The minute my friend told the possibility of cancellation I serched and am commenting.
