The struggle (and story) of the Bowman family ends tonight. The Colony TV show has been cancelled after three seasons but, would you have watched more episodes and a fourth season? Should it have been dropped?
A USA Network sci-fi drama, Colony stars Josh Holloway, Sarah Wayne Callies, Tory Kittles, Peter Jacobson, and Alex Neustaedter. The story unfolds in the near-future, in a world where citizens are under military occupation by the Colony Transitional Authority, as part of a large extraterrestrial invasion. Former FBI agent Will Bowman (Holloway) and wife Katie (Callies) were raising their daughter and two sons in Los Angeles, but were separated from the younger boy during the invasion and did everything they could to get him back. The third season kicked off six months after the season two finale, with Will and Katie rebuilding their family in the world beyond the walls. They begin a journey during which they uncover the truth behind the occupation. Once again, this family finds themselves having to choose sides.
The show debuted in January 2016 and got off to a positive start with a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.36 million viewers. The series lost some steam over the course of the season. The first year averaged a 0.38 rating with 1.13 million and it was renewed for a second season.
Season two of Colony launched in January 2017 and the 13 episodes ended up averaging a 0.26 demo rating with 814,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that was down by 31% in the demo and 28% in viewership. Still, Colony was renewed for a third year even before the season two finale aired.
USA didn’t start running season three until May 2018. Thus far, the third season has averaged a 0.17 demo rating with 672,000 viewers. Compared to last year, that’s down by 36% and 18%, respectively.
Colony is currently one of USA Network’s lower-rated scripted series but, other shows aren’t doing that much better. While it’s not a complete surprise that USA cancelled Colony, they could have easily renewed it to wrap up the story with a final season. Unfortunately, they opted to end the series after three seasons and 36 episodes.

Deeply disappointed! The storyline was really getting interesting and exciting … So along with the demise of The Expanse I this year deeply disappointing

they took too long revealing the aliens and what their real purpose and they were dragging alomg like “Lost” was and no one wanted to waste a lot of time watching just so it could have a “Lost” type ending, i am disappointed but id rather it end like this than the way lost did.
Extremely disappointed no Colony season 4!! This was a great new twist in season 3, Loved it! How can you cancel after 3 seasons of a show without having a proper ending?! Big loss for dedicated fans!
I’m suuuuuuuper disappointed. Like someone else said, it was just getting juicy. They prob waited to long for the actual alien war to come and introduce them. Because it was so much about the family dynamic for a while people probably got bored but it’s sooooo good if you just had a little patience. Please bring it back at least one more season. Hopefully if enough people complain they’ll give it a second chance or another will pick up the show.
It needed another season to wrap up. 12 Monkey’s got one even though the season 3 ratings were atrocious. The live ratings for Colony really dropped this season. The ratings for the last 4 episodes(I don’t know what the season finale did) were awful. It lost a lot of viewers from season 2. Very sad.
I would like Colony to continue
It’s a big favorite of mine. Please bring it back for a final season four to wrap up the story.

Colony is one of my favorite shows. I watch the season finale last night and was really looking forward to Season 4. Now, I read it’s been cancelled. I wish Amazon or Netflix would pick it up.
I think someone should pick up Colony for Season 4. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the show!
No!!!!! Can’t believe they cancelled this show!! I think they were just getting warmed up and season 3 is the best so far! What a disappointment! This one is a favorite.
What good is waching a series that is abandoned in the middle of the storyline with no ending? It’s like starting a novel knowing you will never reach the back cover. Who would do that? The least they could do is a 2-hour episode to end the story. Clearly it’s only about money and not the viewers.
USA is owned by NBC Universal, which is owned by COMCAST, and it is all about the money. I would like a to see something to wrap it up also.
