The struggle (and story) of the Bowman family ends tonight. The Colony TV show has been cancelled after three seasons but, would you have watched more episodes and a fourth season? Should it have been dropped?
A USA Network sci-fi drama, Colony stars Josh Holloway, Sarah Wayne Callies, Tory Kittles, Peter Jacobson, and Alex Neustaedter. The story unfolds in the near-future, in a world where citizens are under military occupation by the Colony Transitional Authority, as part of a large extraterrestrial invasion. Former FBI agent Will Bowman (Holloway) and wife Katie (Callies) were raising their daughter and two sons in Los Angeles, but were separated from the younger boy during the invasion and did everything they could to get him back. The third season kicked off six months after the season two finale, with Will and Katie rebuilding their family in the world beyond the walls. They begin a journey during which they uncover the truth behind the occupation. Once again, this family finds themselves having to choose sides.
The show debuted in January 2016 and got off to a positive start with a 0.44 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.36 million viewers. The series lost some steam over the course of the season. The first year averaged a 0.38 rating with 1.13 million and it was renewed for a second season.
Season two of Colony launched in January 2017 and the 13 episodes ended up averaging a 0.26 demo rating with 814,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that was down by 31% in the demo and 28% in viewership. Still, Colony was renewed for a third year even before the season two finale aired.
USA didn’t start running season three until May 2018. Thus far, the third season has averaged a 0.17 demo rating with 672,000 viewers. Compared to last year, that’s down by 36% and 18%, respectively.
Colony is currently one of USA Network’s lower-rated scripted series but, other shows aren’t doing that much better. While it’s not a complete surprise that USA cancelled Colony, they could have easily renewed it to wrap up the story with a final season. Unfortunately, they opted to end the series after three seasons and 36 episodes.

I am not happy that USA Network isn’t going to at least finish Colony plot. Networks really irk me when they do that. Makes it hard to get vested in a new series when this happens
I loved this show,watched all previous episodes on streaming .This season ended poorly .I want to know about the other aliens,what happens to all the other cities what about all the actors what about just tie the story up with another season. Don’t leave everybody up in the air.
This is the S.O.S. Cancelling a show that actually has a plot while the reality shows like The Bachelor and Bachelorette keep going. Part of the problem is there was no advertisement to when it was coming back and with a thousand channels who could find it. Neilson Shmillson ( No disrespect to Harry Nilson of us old people history with the album of the same name.) is what I say about the antiquated system. Too many channels with too little on. Give us back the one Wednesday night guilty pleasure I had and leave the good shows alone.
you couldn’t have said it any better. is their an antiques channel for great show as Colony, Shades of blue just to name a couple. I believe that USA is afraid to take risks.
Well, I think The Expanse was also on Wednesday if I’m not mistaken, so that’s 2 BIG hits syfy fans have taken this year. Which raises the question..should we lobby Netflix and AMZ to pick it up for an additional season? Their metrics seem to be different than the regular networks. Surely it’s as good as anything else Netflix has produced this year.
This last season was really the best of them all, and I think the show had just found its footing and purpose. I am so sad it was canceled and with such a monumental cliffhanger!!
Best show on TV for the last 3 years, of COURSE it gets the surprise axe. This is why I don’t want to invest any time into new TV shows. It’s like reading half a book and finding out the author didn’t bother to finish.
My husband and I are extremely disappointed that AMC has cancelled Colony. It was never boring. Between the Hosts, the Resistance, and family dynamics, you never knew what was going to happen next. I would ask that you please change for minds and RENEW Colony for a new season. It was one of the best programs AMC has put on the air.

You might have trouble finding it on AMC, At least in the USA it’s on the USA network. AMC shows Humans And Zombie Apocalypse stuff, so I can understand the confusion. These are surprisingly the only 2 networks I watch regularly these days besides the fake news, of course. Even Syfy seems to have become a postapocolyptic wasteland. Killjoys?? Nah-ah, sorry.
Most episodes I watched were extremely tedious even though I liked the leads and supporting players, but finale was great and caused me to want to continue viewing. Give us another season, please.

I can’t believe that USA cancelled Colony just when the show was REALLY getting interesting! There should be at least one more finale season to wrap it up.

Should not have been cancelled. So disappointed. Yes I would definitely have watched another season. Sad. Would love to know how these decisions are made. Hopefully it will be picked up.
Yes most definitely. The show should of never been canceled in the first place. This show ranked right up there with Falling Skies. I have to say I’m not a big fan of the Nielsen Ratings System. I believe it to be a very outdated way of collecting data. It doesn’t supply you with a true representation of your viewer base. Let’s hope another network or Netflix picks it up.

I think they should bring the show back and give it a great ending instead of just stopping without a proper closing
