The alphabet is cutting the first season of Combat Hospital short by one episode, moving up the season (likely series) finale. ABC is cutting the 11th episode, “Brothers in Arms,” next Tuesday and will instead run the 12th installment, “Triage.” The 13th episode, “Do No Harm,” will wrap the season on September 6th.
The network hasn’t announced any plans to run the missing episode at a later date but that isn’t a surprise. Combat Hospital has been a disappointment ratings-wise and has been averaging a low 1.0 in the 18-49 demographic and 3.94 million viewers. Aside from Karaoke Battle USA, it’s the lowest-rated original series currently on the network.
The series is supposedly doing much better however in Canada, where it’s produced. While it’s hard to imagine that ABC would renew the show for a second season, Combat Hospital could continue airing north of the border. If it does, fans here in the states will likely have to wait until the episodes are released on DVD or watch/download them online.
What do you think? Does Combat Hospital deserve a second season or cancellation? Why do you think it’s doing better in Canada than the US?

I loved the show, it was something my wife and I could both watch. It had the action and guns we men like and the romance of a Grey’s Anatomy type of show for her. I hate how these freaking networks do this crap. They hook you into a show and then because the show was .0012% off it’s supposed mark they cancel it. And just for the record there are plenty of us Americans who watched the show and loved it.
This is one of the best shows on tv and ABC decides to get rid of it? Well that is just not right. I really hope Global TV in Canada will keep it going it is fantastic and has so many fans. well written, well cast, well acted. Come on Global/Shaw, don’t piss us off and cancel it.
Please don’t cancel Combat Hospital in the US…I am a Military wife and can relate to this show! It’s fresh and current and covers aspects of our military members abroad …please don’t cancel!!!!
This is one of the BEST shows on TV today!! It is well written, well acted and just generally terrific. It’s real and I’m proud of what the medical teams are doing over there. Any of the American friends I have didn’t know a thing about the show until I told them about it and insisted they check it out. Maybe ABC and American TV needs to promote it better. I stand proud to defend this show. If it is cancelled in favor of ANOTHER dumb reality show, I will NOT BE HAPPY! I’m sick and tired of good programs… Read more »
Really liked this one and found it one of the most honest and devastating portrayal of the problems of military medicine speaking as a former Hospital Corpsman in the Vietnam Era though not in country. I will miss this one and hope that there will be a possibility to catch the final episode on Netflix or elsewhere. It is a sad comment on current network programming that they do not give quality television the chance to find their audience. It also says something why my viewing is straying more and more away from network television and its steady sewage bath… Read more »
Our family really liked this program and can’t understand why ABC would cancel it. Their are too much “fluff” programing and was nice to watch something that had some depth and meaning. I hope ABC will give the show another chance and maybe promote the show. We stumbled upon the show and never missed an episode since!
This not only truly portrays the dedication of the armed forces as soldiers, but more importantly, as peace keepers. Having spent a good bit of time in Afhanistan in the 70’s, I know first hand how the Taliban destroyed the entire way of life in that area. There are so many there who need our help in returning so many basic riths that were taken from them. I wish that for a change ABC could reconsider the bottom dollar and keep airing it in the U.S.
I also love this show! Soo much better than many shows out there now. I would be very disappointed if it were cancelled.
I think it was a good show. I think that it’s liked in Canada more because it showed more canada force’s then Americans. That’s what I like about it showing us that we are not the only one’s over there fighting. It was just getting good and they are going to take it Off for WHAT MORE REALITY SHOWS . when I watch tv I want actor and actress not people with their 15 minute of fame.
I agree with Anne-Marie this show is excellent and am very sad to hear that it has been cancelled and I feel it should have a second chance. I love the show.
My husband and I watched this show every week and thoroughly enjoyed it. We just watched the season finale and just had to check online to see if it will be back. I hope it does. We loved the show! And we are from the U.S.!
I think that Combat Hospital is an excellent program – current, topical, well acted and well scripted. I’d hate to see it cancelled – and not just because I’m Canadian! 🙂
Combat Hospital is one of the best shows on TV. It was filmmed in Canada, so just because Americans didn’t like it, we Canadians shouldn’t lose a great show because of them. I hope Global will renew the seasons and come back with many more. I know someone on the crew who filmmed this show, and he worked very long hard hours and helped bring a wonderful show to TV. Shame on ABC for not wanting to continue with a great show.
I love the show, it’s great !!!! Please advises when the 11th episode will be on air !!
We wnat a next season
One of the best shows I have seen in a long time. It needs to be renewed if for no other reason it brings it gives the audience a perspective as to what our armed forces are facing while most of us sit at home in our easy chairs.
