Currently, there are several TV shows that revolve around viral outbreaks — The Last Ship, The Strain, and Z Nation. The folks at The CW are hoping there’s room for one more with their Containment series. How will this one perform in the ratings? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
On Containment, a mysterious and lethal epidemic breaks out in Atlanta and a wide reaching urban quarantine is quickly enforced. This forces those who are stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while, local and federal officials desperately search for a cure. The cast includes David Gyasi, Christina Moses, Chris Wood, Kristen Gutoskie, Claudia Black, George Young, Hanna Mangan Lawrence, and Trevor St. John.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/12 update: There won’t be a second season for this CW series. Details here.
7/20 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Containment TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I love the show. Ratings are probably dropping because they announced it wasn’t going to be an ongoing series before the show even aired. People don’t want to get to know all the characters and story line if they knew it won’t continue. Not fair
Networks are so quick to cancel shows that I have become very apprehensive in watching new programs in their first season. Rather wait and see if they are going to be renewed. Tired of getting involved in good shows and they are cancelled while we are bombarded with reality shows or shows with the same theme. I just wait for them to get on Netflix, Hulu or Amazon and watch. Hopefully, one of them will save some of theses shows.
regardless of whether it was supposed to be a limited series event if the series is loved it should at least give season 2 a try. This show is not cliche nor is it about zombies. its a unique storyline ans has become of my favorite shows ever. i think the wrong station picked up the series. had this been aired on a more popular network we would have had a season 2. the keep I zombie but cancel this? whoever is calling the shots wouldnt know good taste if it jumped up and bit them. stupid business move in… Read more »
Um guys it was always going to be a limited series event. It was never going to have a season two. This ain’t because of ratings
Containment is a great show why is cow cancelled it that’s crazy
Horrible set lighting on this show. They should have spent more money and hired some real professionals, and not some clueless chumps.
What is interesting in the beginning of this series are the personalities of the cdc chick and the major, they are almost beligerent and off putting which turns viewers away. Now, however the series is developing these personalities and many viewers have already left the show. So, now the story is moving forward and we gain understanding about Lex. Funny how he is captured now, the irony of his visit with dad….
I hope 1 season gives us answers.
9 or 13 episodes?
Are they going to at least show the whole season?
Watched Belgian original. Was excellent so hoping this when it starts in UK will be of the same standard.
Great show. Its different then the zombie virus shows, more realistic which makes it scary. I’m loving the characters and each of their storylines. So excited to see what comes next.
very good show.!! love it.!!
A nice addition to the CW. Hopefully the ratings will continue to grow. Nice for Julie Plec too.
Znation it isn’t. I would love to see the CW take a chance and make a show that pokes fun at itself. This is just another formula Zombie/virus/end of the world complete with all the usual suspects.
This show is going to do good. Its great.
