It’s the end of the road for Copper on BBC America. The cable channel has announced that the show has been cancelled after two seasons. The cancellation comes following the show’s modest ratings.
In a statement, BBC America GM Perry Simon said, “The opportunity to work with Tom Fontana, Barry Levinson, Will Rokos, Thomas Kelly and the extraordinary cast and crew on this journey is one that we are extremely proud of.”
He continued, “Their vision to retell the immigrant experience through the melting pot of New York City was an original and fresh idea that melded well with the essence of BBC America’s programming. After 23 episodes, with Lincoln dead and the nation starting to heal, it seems a fitting moment to conclude this American story.”
The de facto series finale will air this Sunday. It’s called “The Place I Called My Home.”
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear there won’t be a third season of Copper? How would you have ended the series?
Watched series on Netflix this weekend. Excellent program. Can’t believe its been cancelled. Someone. Red to rethink this.
i think it needs to come back its the truth of what was going on then…. and now
It’s too bad it is a very gripping show I keep you intrigued
i am very disappointed no season 3 that was an amazing show
I’m just gutted over this one being cancelled. I just got a chance to watch it on Netflix and I join what should be a cacophony of voices decrying this cancellation. There was just so much more to tell and the story was encompassing and involving. I hate the banality of reality television. Why must we always cater to the lowest common denominator?!? So disappointed.
This is a great show. Great characters and storyline. Why must all of the good shows get cancelled while nasty “reality” shows like Honey Boo Boo continue to exist? Cancelling this show means that you agree and support this type of asinine programming. Come on BBC. Do your part to keep interesting shows on the air.
I dont get it? Why do TV producers always cancel shows that are outstanding? It really makes no sense?
how does evil garbage rate so high and quality tv so low? there are few shows i enjoyed more than copper. i was a faithful watcher of the series and would be again if it were brought back. no one wants to watch the tired old programing you presently offer.
I am sorry that this series is over. It provided insight into the struggles the Irish had coming to America. It also provided the dynamics of various groups of people with different backgrounds, different life styles and other differences. Today kids in school are not taught the struggles of all the people who helped make this nation great.
You made a big mistake taking this off the air! I hope you reconsider
I want it back. I love this show. Think you need to recheck your ratings
This series should have never been canceled, this show had a little bit of everything and kept you interested in the show, this should be brought back!!
THIS IS A TERRIBLE WAY TO END THE SERIES> IT WAS GRIPPING< AND WAS AN EXCELLENT SERIES…..YOU OUGHT TO HAVE YOUR HEADS EXAMINED FOR ENDING THIS.
This was one of the only series that I have been interested in ,, In the last several years,,, since Obama has deadened our country for 6 long years and depression has reigned this has been one of the bright spots in our other wise dark existence ,,,, and now this is cancelled as well,, im very sad for this,,,, cheers
Really?
Cancelled!
Great.
Copper was a good mix of a period piece with a twist. Enough sex, violence, and history to keep one wanting more. Not to metion HOT men in a age where men are sissys and all women are supposedly homosexual. Too bad.
I hold hope that something just as entertaining is upcoming from BBC.
Shallow minds should not rule the remote!
(yes it took me sometime to find this out…)
witty reply, very well thought out
Very sad, good show. Always take off the good ones! Leave alot of trash reality shows, go figure.
i am very disappointed there will be no 3rd season. left you hanging…characters awesome. great story line…please bring back. I want Kevin and Francis to find love again….
