A day before the network’s official upfront presentation for advertisers, CBS has cancelled Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. The spin-off will end after just one season.
Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior follows a highly-trained team of agents who operate within the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). They use unique and hard-hitting tactics to bring down some of the country’s most dangerous felons. The TV series stars Forest Whitaker, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Kelly, Beau Garrett, Matt Ryan, and Kirsten Vangsness.
While spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles got off to an immediate great start back in 2009, the same can’t be said for CBS’ latest spin-off, Suspect Behavior. In February, it debuted to a 3.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 13.06 million viewers. That was a solid start but then the second episode dropped 27% to a 2.4 rating and 9.8 million. By the fourth episode, it had fallen to a 2.2 demo rating.

The ratings have gone up and down a bit over the course of the season but has gone as low as a 2.1 in the demo a couple times. It currently averages a 2.4 rating and 9.84 million viewers, more than a whole point below its lead-in and parent series, Criminal Minds. Those numbers put it squarely on the bubble for renewal.
There was talk about bringing Suspect Behavior back for another round, possibly after doing a revamp, but the network’s decided against it. They likely have other procedurals waiting in the wings that believe can do better so CBS has cancelled Suspect Behavior after one season.
A baker’s dozen of episodes have been produced and so far, 11 of them have aired. The remaining two are expected to run tomorrow and next Wednesday night, May 25th, as previously scheduled.
The series finale is called “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and finds the team tracking a serial killer who randomly shoots people in crowded areas.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior won’t be back for a second season? Why do you think this one didn’t catch on?

Are they nuts, cancelling such a great show and leaving us all hanging. What happens with French Stewart and with the other guy with the gun to Jeanne Garofalo’s head. I have never been so dissapointed in my life. What a way to dissapoint all the fans of this fine series. I’m watching it on hulu and when it was over I was appalled.
ikr, i’m so dissapointed. I’m trying to find the next season but couldn’t find it, turns out i didn’t know that it was cancel. Why? This is such a great show. I can’t describe how much i love and enjoy it.
How could you cancel such a good , and well played series.
I really looked forward to see the next season .
Please reconsider.
Greetings Cecilia a Swedish viewer
I want it back, it was one of the best shows out there! Please bring it back!
I enjoyed the show very much, and was surprised when it was cancelled.
I strongly believe it was because of Forest Whittaker. He is the worst actor EVER! It was a terrific
cast except for him, I found myself cringing every time he talked
Bring it back without him, and I bet you will have a hit
I Just can’t believe they left it hanging with “to be continued….”. I thought the intricacy of the story lines was good. Criminal Minds got too gory for me. Suspect Behavior was more intriguing psychologically for me. I wish they would at least do a movie where they finish the story…
please bring this back ,how can you leave it the way series one ended ,Sheldon cooper will not be happy.so please bring it back
Would love to see this show come back I watch it every night and would love to keep watching it the show just keeps u on your toes the whole time
Are you saying that at 9.2 million viewers that the show was not profiting? Or was the dollar amount just not enough? Surely you should make the continuation to the finale. Make it still season one one part two. This show shouldn’t have been canceled. There’s no way this show is liked less than the original. Did people know about it? I didn’t until Hulu. Maybe it was racism then otherwise what’s the deal.
RACISM is the major reason for the cancel. The lead, a brilliant, fine human being, was a Black man who was not even handsome. And we must not imagine that the TV Industry top boys care in any way for the public. Racism rules, and anybody important who was uncomfortable with a Black lead would easily persuade his buddies to cancel.
Lol cant believe that some people you think that the show was cancelled because of racism your so wrong
I’m not African American, and I am not a racist, I am a Christian, but I like you and Holly irritated. I found this on Amazon instead of watching it and then when I realized it was only one season I was upset did some digging find out it all the made one season then I was outraged. Criminal Minds suspect Behavior is 100 times better than the regular Criminal Minds it’s not just an opinion it’s a fact I have tried to watch Regular Criminal Minds several times on TV, I only watch it because there’s nothing else on… Read more »
The show was cancelled because the script sucked, the characters were unrelatable and even the best part of Criminal Minds, Garcia, seemed off… what’s good about the other CM series is the humanity of the agents, the barter between the team and Garcia is what holds it together… In this show it was all just disconnected… Forest Whittacker was the only good thing about this show, and I hope to see him return in another show as the lead… one that doesn’t suck so much…
