After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that CSI: Miami has been cancelled? Will you miss the show? Was it time for it end or would you have liked to have seen an 11th season?

I have an idea! Lets all just quit watching the CBS channel until they reconsider!
It could be a good idea…and…let’s start a petition!!
They should have kept it on Monday night!
I hope they change their minds one time and renew CSI Miami..This is the best franchise of the CSI series.. 🙁
Again, they moved their time slot and again, people could not watch. A lot of people DVR the show, much like I do. This is ridiculous to cancel such a great show. Put them back where they belong and watch what happens.
I liked this show and the finale was ceratainly not any kind of real finale or send off show.
That kinda sucks. I wish they would of let them have a final season to end it properly, shish.
A 10 year show at least deserves that.
Well now CBS has nothing for me to watch on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If NCIS AND NCIS LA, AND CM AND CSI NY loses the main people than pretty soon CBS won’t have ANYTHING for me at all to watch. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU EXECUTIVES AT CBS?
YOU GUYS REALLY SUCK THE BEST SHOW ON THE HOLE FREAKING PLANET AND YOU MORONS SCREW UP SUNDAY NIGHT TV. THANK- GOD FOR CABLE
LOSERS
It was a great ten year run. Thanks to the cast and crew. Godspeed to David Caruso and his family who were stalked for several of those years by a deranged, Austrian woman who was captured and sentenced in 2009. For more info, see The Stalker Chronicles dot blogspot dot com.
It is time for it to be retired. Not Cancelled.
So …. do you think that there is still hope?!
Big Mistake! Very disappointing!! CSI Miami was the best out of all the others ones. Great story lines, and such a talented cast! David Caruso plays such a phenomenal character. I have never watched such a believable Actor in a role like one he played.
The ENTIRE cast members are Dynamic! With all their different character roles they play, the combination of all of them made an amazing team.
I hope that this show will renege on it’s decision of the cancellation.
I totally agree, Jil!! David is phenomenal!Just like you wrote.. Do you think they can change their mind?!
I just could not stand this show and him just wondered why it took so long the acting was bad!~
It looks like this case *puts on sunglasses* is closed. 😛 Yay for CSI: NY! One. More. Year! (which, in reality, is probably all it’ll get, heh)
CSI: NY has been the best show in the franchise since William Petersen left the original. CSI: Miami isn’t even in the discussion. Caruso mails it in, and the rest of the cast is eye candy.
can anyone tell me, does season finale of csi miami have a cliffhanger or a ending, i havent watched it yet
Thanks for nothing CBS!
Not happy about your decision to cancel one of the best shows on TV. See if I watch any other show’s you produce!
Won’t be happening any time… EVER!
Thank you to the cast for 10 years of great memories!! I’ll continue to watch my DVD’s and write my fanfictions.
I don’t watch any CSI show very often, but I was SHOCKED to learn about “Miami” ‘s cancellation. It’s probably my favorite of the three shows.
