After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that CSI: Miami has been cancelled? Will you miss the show? Was it time for it end or would you have liked to have seen an 11th season?

CSI:M ran its course. Good bye.
10 years and no series finale? No closure on story lines? That is so unfair to those of us who have invested 10 years into the series
I agree! It’s absurd!
I love the show including the rest of the CSI Franchise. I wish it continue.
They should have put the shows together again.
stupid CBS axing csi miami..get ride of that crap shows like Hawaii 5-0 that show is horrible remake..also drop ******* survivor its been on for 20 ******* years..enough of it already, or 2 and half men..thats a crap show to..csi Miami would be fine if it wasnt on Sunday night contending with sunday night football, put it back where it first started on Mondays
Once again they blew it I hardly ever watch csi los wages new. This one with H and the gang was good entertainment. The shows made you want to watch them and like the others who commented was on the wrong night should have kept it in Mondays.
I’m sorry to see CSI MIAMI to go…i was a big fan…Love all the CSI’s…it will be missed…
I’m very sad to see this go. CBS should have given the original CSI a graceful exit an cancelled that one instead. I’m a fan of Ted Danson and Elisabeth Shue…just not for this show.
YESSSSSS I CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF it would of stayed on CTV INSTEAD of CTV2 it would of made it! Us TRUE fans would of be able to watch it without wondering which night and time it was on!!! Should of stayed on Mon nights at 8 where Hawaii 5 O is now!!!! It should of never been kicked out of their time slot!!!!!! I would download it every week on my computer because we only have 2 channels! 6 and 9! And not able to see H or Eric anymore is making me VERY sad!!!!!!!
We are very sorry the show has been cancelled. We’ll miss Horatio’s kindness a lot! he’s the best! At least lets have David Caruso back with another show!!
I’d agree, ND, but that kinda crosses over into (no pun intended) overkill, don’t ya think?
As much as I like Horatio and the gang, if CBS isn’t going to cancel the by-now unwatchable Las Vegas CSI, I’m glad to see Miami go instead of NY. To me, the NY characters are like family; I haven’t felt that way about the characters in the other two shows for years. And yes, Tv.Com has confirmed that CSI:NY has officially been renewed.
i’m truly disappointed that they have cancel csi miami, especially now that the have to find the woman who killed her husband, how can they leave that undone.
come on cbs think this over this show is a big hit over the other csi’s
Very bad choice. Seems like the only shows to stay on the air are for only the younger audience. I loved the show. The characters were great. It will be sadly missed. When you move a show around it louses some of it’s following. It doesn’t mean it isn’t a good show.
The problem is that CSI Miami aired on the wrong night. I think CBS should aired all the CSIs on one night.
HOW COULD THEY!!!!!!!! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO WATCH NOW?!! I wanted to cry when I heard this, I spent two hours searching the web looking for a ray of hope, but I have to face the EVIL fact that they have decided to cancel my favorite show! Tell me WHY!? I watch Miami religiously and own every dvd whitch I watch constantly.
Please change your mind CBS! Somebody start a petition, we have to make them bring it back!!
I totally agree! We must do something! We need to help Horatio and the others! Let’s start a petition! It’s the only hope…..
Bianca, It seems that the petition has been started! Here’s the link:
