After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.

csi miami was the best i think they should bring it back its one of my favorite shows i watched it a million times in netfilx so i say its time for it back and give its fans what we want .
I was looking forward to season 11 after watching 1-10 on netflix….very bummed to find out there was no more….great job to cast of csi miami….i loved you guys!

So love CSI Miami!!!!! Just completed the 10th season on Netflix and I will re-watch them all again! It is time for season 11 CBS – bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this show and the way the last episode left us waiting for more should have led to an 11th season. if they do not renew the show in the future then I think they should make a two hour + movie or long final episode with the much better conclusion to the show then what was left off. after watching the show a million times I was truly upset to hear they had cancelled it. if CBS has no intentions of ever creating and 11th episode I think they should sell the copyright to a different company that… Read more »

I just finished watching the last Episode of Season 10 & am so upset that it’s the last of C.S.I. Miami. I can’t believe the Producers would just drop all of us faithful viewers off a cliff like that by canceling the Series!!! I loved all the Actors who did an excellent job of keeping many of us entertained, especially “Delko”, Adam Rodriguez!…WOW!!!
This is my fovorite show after rewatchING all the episodes on Netflix a million times I think yes it’s time for season 11 CBS should give their fans what they want and not give the ad campaign what they want.
I believe that I would like to see a final of CSI miami that way we get closer and it makes for a get build up. I have watched all the law and order series and other that are in that category. I love the build up to the end of season and waiting to see how it would end. So I ask that you give CSI Miami a great closer and perhaps a great build up. I know all good things must come to an end. So let’s give it a great ending.
